Any robots/neets here play Civ5?

With all that spare time on your hands it might be fun to play together and against each other.
>>
>>28753545
I was playing Civ 5 until I bought Stellaris.
>>
>>28753545
also -11 gold, wew lad, why does everyone suck at managing their economy?
>>
>>28753545
I play regularly but I'm stuck on level 4 difficulty, no matter what I do theres 1 country thats better than me
>>
>>28753545
i hate playing mp without nq mod though
it's horrendously unbalanced
>>
>>28753585
yeah who knows. I always manage at least 50+ per turn by turn 100.

- get those trade routes set up
- micromanage your cities to work high gold tiles
- sell your extra luxuries (can get 7 gpt)
- sell your extra resources (depends...but can get some good gpt)
- take a few moments to find an optimal location for new cities
- watch your happiness

happiness can be a bitch. always be on the look out for new luxury resources. continuously check your diplomacy screen for any potential trades.
>>
>>28753719
i dont think he's playing BNW since he doesn't have the option for trade routes
>>
>>28753626

TL;DR: Rush economy related techs.

On Prince and King difficulties you can win just by focusing on technology and economy. A Great Library rush is essential and another thing I like to do is grab the hanging gardens.
I don't usually spend any of my time building normal structures or units when wonders are available.
Try to get ahead of others through science and go for the Mint and other economy related techs, after that it's all about stockpiling money like a kike.
When a war is declared (something you should avoid), spend your gold on military. People don't fuck with you this way.
You can also spend gold to buy normal buildings and influence over city states later.
If you have hanging gardens you can focus on building less farms and more trade posts or lumber mills.
>>
>>28753719
We're probably just jewy by nature.
>>
>>28753789
telling people to just rush certain techs is foolish though.

if he's playing Attila for example that would be fucking retarded advice. It depends entirely on who he's playing but on shitter difficulties the general strategy is to rush GL because it's fucking busted and you wont get that far behind

>>28753626
if you're on low difficulty just immediately tech pottery, build scout > monument, find ruins, go tradition, and then tech writing and immediately build GL when it's done.

You should be able to fit a worker in there before writing is done. Then use the free tech to discover Philosophy, then build National College.

Now you're in classical era, with huge beakers, a couple social policies and you can basically do whatever you want. Tech into your luxuries to mantain your happiness and then go do whatever you like. Usually settling cities.

This is bad advice for high difficulty but good for low.

Do NOT fall for the shitter trap of doing production focus, growth is the most important thing.

However, when building settlers, you cant grow, so take ALL food tiles off, and as much production as possible to get it done quicker, even if your city would technically be starving, the food stat is frozen so it doesnt matter. Just remember to turn it back

>>28753921
Excess food is turned into production while you build a settler.

lol Literally the same thing. I even got the expansion just so that I can have Judaism as the main religion in the city.

>>28753545

Science is by far more important than gold. Science gets you access to the best units, accelerates growth, and gets you a head start on the best wonders. Gold is helpful, but overall civ is all about science.
Early game goals should be National College in the cap (need a library in all cities and Philosophy) and then tec to Education for Universities. Other big science tecs are Plastics and Scientific Theory. Trade routes should be used to feed the capital and then your other cities. You should try to make your cap as big as possible, (work growth tiles) as you should have National College there and more population=more science. Make sure to fill out the rationalism policy tree asap.
Great Library rush works really well up until Emperor, but after that the AI has too much of a lead on you and will almost always get it before you on turn 30-40. You're better off building settlers anyways because the good city spots go fast.

It's an enjoyable game but ultimately it's not fulfilling at all. By the time you've built a good civilization the game feels monotonous.

tfw after a thread like this we got a group of robots together to play civ but we never got the same exact combination of people together twice and never finished a game, eventually stopping playing altogether
>>
>>28754375
Stellaris is pretty fucking good. You can customize your civilizations from flag to ethnicity and moral values. The play on different FTL technologies is a really fun mechanic since they allow for different exploration strategies.
The fights are realistic in the sense that your technologies are used for building ships with better stats like movement speed and evasion, as well as damage, accuracy, and type of projectile.
The ability to customize all your ships from templates is really nice. The only issue I have with the game personally is that there aren't enough tiles per planet to build structures. But that's because I come from games like Civ and AoE.
The galaxy is vast enough and the game offers the ability to house many more species/civilizations than Civ games do. The trading is comparable if not better than the one in Civ due to possibilities.
There is a learning curve however, but it's nowhere near as bad as sau Europa Universalis. I'd say it's actually as easy to learn as Civ 5 which is a good thing.

Another issue I have with the game is not being able to see which technologies become available after research (there is no tech tree to explore, but then again that's another preferance from being used to Civ). However I really like the division in technologies where you have three different scientists, one focusing on physics-related techs, one on sociology and biology, and one on engineering.

The fact that you can select the type of government you have (democracy or dictatorship and others, some possibilities becoming available through ethics) is a really good mechanic too.

I could go on forever.

TL;DR: 7,75/10, needs a DLC. Definitely recommend.

>>
>>28756019
actually this is one of the main problems in the game
>>
So... can you actually make demands from other civs if your military is strong enough? Only one time I got them to fear me was a science rush when I built the atom bomb before everyone else, and I didnt actually make any demands. Id think anyone would take it as an offense and denounce you.
>>
>>28756316
Nope, doesn't work as intended.
When you have a larger civ all it does is piss everyone off and make them unwilling to give in to demands unless you've spent centuries giving them free shit.

You can surround their cities with mechs and nukes and all they'll do is tell you to fug off.
>>
>>28756316
if you've ever had demands made of you, is usually some poor civ begging for freebies.

buying people off to not attack you doesn't work, even the AI recognizes this.
>>
Civ V is legit one of the most comfy tier games ever. The graphics, the music, the ambience, it's all so comforting for me, even when I'm at war.

I don't even play to win, I just play for the experience.
>>
>>28756841
I play for war
tbqh nothing is comfier to me than sieging your enemies in bloody conflicts and burning their fields
the first time I got nuclear missiles i accidentally genocided the russians tho
>>
>>28755837

There is no victory condition where fertilizer is the last useful tech. Science and diplo require way more tech than fertilizer. Extra food doesn't help tourism for the culture victory. And if you're going for domination who gives a fuck about extra food artillery is literally the next tech after fertilizer (also nukes, bombers xcom etc all huge advantages.)
Yeah there are some maps and cheeses like tiny islands that allow you to wreck the shitty naval AI, but going against deity AI on Pangaea and not giving a fuck about science will guarantee a loss.
>>
>>28753719
You must be playing on a low difficulty

Especially because you're prioritizing gold tiles over food or hammers

In my experience the AI bitches out after they start shit and I send off a war party
>Japan talkin shit
>Japan's on another continent, doesn't matter
>I have battleships and destroyers
>Build a MASSIVE naval fleet ready to fuck up anything in its path
>Submarines, battleships and destroyers, carriers escorting a group of land infantry ready to fuck shit up(I was doing really well at this point in the game)
>By the time it's finished, Japan has declared war
>The fleet launches, gets about halfway across the sea
>Costing me a shitload of gpt in maintenance, don't care
>Japan tries to make peace, nothing given in exchange for the conflict that they started
>they fuel this fire, the result of which is not what they desire
>the result of course being the day of the rope
>peace is not an option
>Operation: Zipperhead is now active
>the fleet lands, destroyers and battleships eat up the coastal cities in a few turns
>Japan had ruled a large chunk of this continent for a long time apparently
>despite being in the fucking middle ages
>Liberate Sweden, Japan took them over back when the game had first started
>They are extremely thankful and remain my terrified ally through the rest of the game
>Exterminate the Japanese until the last of them are hunted from the face of the earth
>Everyone hates me and considers me a warmonger
>tbqhwy they're absolutely right
I was Germany btw
>>
>>28756019
>>28756196
You could crush his army bad enough that he offers cities for peace. What's good about this is that cities acquired through trade do not give you warmonger penalties.

If you really want Attila's Court, you could just take the capital itself and maybe another city.

Completely eliminating a civ pisses everybody off so you want to leave Attila to a few shitty cities, hell you can even settle a city and then give it to him. You just don't want to kill a civ off unless everybody else already hates that civ or you can afford to piss everybody off.
>>
>>28758972
>Completely eliminating a civ pisses everybody off so you want to leave Attila to a few shitty cities, hell you can even settle a city and then give it to him.
When I'm doing a world domination game, I usually find an island or a secluded area in the middle of fucking nowhere, nuke the shit out of it so everything is irradiated, and build cities to give to my enemies when I want their land
I call it Cuck Island
>>
>>28756841
Nothing comfier than pitting every other player against each other while you cruise to that spaceship victory.
>>
>>28759027
Leaving the AI to a 1 tile city ain't too bad either.
>>
>>28759136
The best part is because everything is irradiated and it's on an island with next to no natural resources usually, they can't ever come back from the defeat
Sometimes I gift the ones I like OP units and watch them try to conquer their neighbors

One player needs to be in the info era or half in atomic to even trigger the UN vote for diplo win so you do need a lot of tech after fertilizer. There are also many other helpful techs for diplo win such as those that unlock more trade routes and those that allow spies to get world congress votes.
Also have fun paying off the AI constantly because your crossbow army can't do shit against tanks.
