Are there any artists browsing this board?
What do you do (as in drawing, painting etc.)
What motives do you like most?
What motivates you?
How long have you been doing it?
I was just about to start to animate something, I feel ashamed because I go to an art school now but I still don't draw in my free time and dedicate myself.
I paint abstract shit, and memes occasionally
https://youtu.be/NYwWuqhz-zw
I would consider myself to be an artist, I have been doing it for about 5 years on/off never seriously.
I mainly like drawing people, have some more examples if anyones interested.
I did this one last year of die antwoord in biro.
Did a kickass digital series of hands but hard to get recognition i feel they deserve. Maybe because my ego is huge.
feedback welcome.

technically i'm an art student but they don't teach actual painting in school (ha ha ha) so i guess i am more like a hobbyists painter
>drawing and watercolour painting
>i want to make pretty looking things
>the process of drawing or painting is very very comfy.
>when they made kids colour with crayons in kindergarten, i just never grew up

the edgelord in me likes it

This is gold digoriginal
My art consists entirely of abstract paintings of women being raped and beaten.
I just started drawing again with a tablet I bought.
I used to use oil paints and do pencil sketches, but I've since moved on to music and digital art.
I'm still gitin' gud at music, but I guess I have a picture to show off.
I just make stuff whenever I feel like it really, I don't find I need motivation or anything. I've been into drawing and stuff for as long as I can remember.I love my waifu very much
I like to draw degenerate porn.
Drawing on its own should be motivation enough.
2-3 years very loosely and sporadically, only started to get serious this year.
art student here
got back to college at 23 after spending some time being a wagecuck
Living off Autism bux and scholarships meant for disabled dropouts
Does a bit of everything. Wish I could do more sculpting but supplies are expensive

Anon that's really nice and ultra /comfy/
How to start with watercolor painting? Been meaning to get into that for a while.
Can you learn drawing at 25 if you can't draw at all?
I'd like to learn to drawpornographybut I don't want to do it if it would take me decades to become gud.
same guy as die antwoord post here, this is another biro study i did, used A3 watercolour paper gave me better results with the biro
>>28744969
This is way better than the die antwoord one
I like to draw animu and vidya girls in digital art as well as just pencil drawings.
I dont draw very often, started when i was about 12. Not sure i qualify as an artist, I lost motivation for everything a while ago but i still like to try occasionally

Art is pretty much the only thing I'm good at...
I'm in an art school, I do mostly sketches because I'm too afraid of getting out of my comfort zone
But I do digital sometimes (pic related)
>>28746859
holy shit, dude
It looks like you could actually make money out of this stuff
>>28746859
I want toeatthat apple.

Thanks dudee
My dream is to work in video games/movies industry
Pic is one of my character concepts
>>28746932
Though personally disliking this characters design (no offense, just hate those beards) I can assure you it's of great quality. Take it far anon

What's the point of the geometry/low poly? Doesn't seem to define the form. Git Gud op
I draw and paint, mostly gigantic pen and ink illustrations of dead women inspired by real murders (serial killings, one offs that were particularly memorable/gory)
I also do digital painting, but very rarely, because I like working with my hands, the feeling of textured paper under my fingertips is better than sex to me.
I've always been fascinated with the occult, death, the power a particular image can have over people, can stay in their minds until they just have to have it on their skin or in their bedroom.
I've been drawing since I was a child, I was encouraged from early on to pursue it. I began with comic art, drawing my own newspaper strips, but when I got obsessed with the occult in elementary I began to draw the illustrations I saw in books on witchcraft.
No I wont post my art since all of it would be cross-posted from my blog or facebook and I am a very private person.
I am.
I draw traditionally and digitally and sometimes do needle felting stuff and other crafts(if that counts as art). My dream is is getting good enough to do some nice concept art or study enough to be comfortable to start a comic.
Haven't had much motivation after being super addicted to a mmo for 1 year and losing my schedule, but really want to fix that.
Have been doing it pretty much forever, pic related.
I do 3d. Not sure what motivates me to do it. I do know one thing that stops me from finishing anything is the long render times.

i suggest a starter pack of
>3 tubes of paint: red, yellow, blue
mix your own colours. saves a lot of money, and your paints are a lot richer. rembrandt and holbein are both very common and good starter brands. i use a medicine pill box as a palette. watercolour can be squeezed on to each pill compartment and stored forever. any time i want to paint, i damp a brush and dab at the dried paint. saves a LOT of money in the long run.
>paper: fabriano, arches, bockingford, sasabe
work out whatever's cheaper for you. personally i buy them in large sheets as opposed to pads, and cut my own size out.
>brushes:
get one flat edged, one round tip maybe size 10 or so and one flat or round (you'll realise your preference later) size 2 or 3. they can be mixed goat hairs for cheaper, but the last smallest brush please get a kolinsky.
you can prepare sketches on the actual watercolour paper itself with a 2H pencil. if you don't want a graphite outline, sketch it on some paper and use a 2H sharpened pencil to trace and transfer it to your actual WC paper.

If you want to get out of your comfort zone, try making some short comics.

Having fun anon, dunno what's so hard to understand about it
Really diggin all those insanity kinds of art (probably a shitty way to refer to it)
Those that show trippy/very dark stuff.
Also really like art by some schizos
I started to resent art when I realized that only the talented become great and I have to toil just to be barely mediocre.
>>28747491
>only the talented become great
Not necessarily true
When you look at modern art, you realize contacts and a good sense of marketing will beat talent 90% of the times
>>28747551
Yeah I meant great in a technical sense. Talented people grasp concepts and ideas at a much quicker pace than a non talented person. You can work your ass off but they'll just surpass you because it's natural to them.
>>28747438
I think you're referring to Outsider Art. And yeah, it's really intriguing stuff
>>28747687
Never heard of this term before. Cheers for opening up a new infinite source of art for me
I draw whatever it is that I'd like to escape to, or however I feel at the time. It'd be a shame to lose my skills, so I make sure to keep it up by doing it every so often in my spare time.
I just finished setting up a page for myself, if you could follow it I might post something you'd like sometime. https://joe-drawings.tumblr.com/

>What's the point of the geometry/low poly?
OP took too much LSD.
>>28747646
I've worked an assistant job for a guy who owns an art gallery, he had enough money he bought a house near downtown just to make it his workshop.
Guy was a real idiot, his art was original but the esthetic quality was mediocre at best.
One day, he made me spend the entire afternoon removing the carpet in his painting room and cutting it into smaller pieces so he could sell it as "abstract art" because there was 6 months of spilled paint accumulated on it
Your art is better then that moron and he still managed to make a living out of it. Don't give in to defeatism
I used to draw every day but then depression hit and I haven't done it since
I haven't done much of anything actually
>>28748812
>I draw whatever it is that I'd like to escape to, or however I feel at the time.
This is best. I do the same. I just take how I feel and draw a shape, an angle. If I feel tense, the angle is large and violent. It can be red. Then I shoot lines off it.

yes, you can learn at any age, if you're serious about wanting to learn

Hey thats pretty good
How long did that take?
Does this look "decent"
>>28750075
Looks really good, actually.
>>28750075
Pretty good, senpai. The boobs might need some work
I don't draw much, but here's an oldie
>>28750528
Is this a panoply of horse dicks?
Who /learningtodraw/ here? Sometimes I'm afraid to start a drawing because I know it'll look bad.
>>28750639
Me, still consider myself learning, although I've been doing it for a long time. Best /adv/ I can give you is to stop worrying about mistakes, but instead making something new out of them
>>28743221
heres a picture of giving a chocolate bar of friendship
>>28749608
looks like the inside of a devils blood vein
>>28750605
Looks like an upside down version of Linkin Park's Hunting Party album.
>>28743221
I'm trying to be an artist but I'm failing miserably at it. I do practice for hours a day but I don't think I'm learning anywhere near the speed the average person does and it likely won't go anywhere. I'll probably kill myself within the next 5 years.
>>28743816
>the process of drawing or painting is very very comfy.
this so much. it's my top number 1 hobby besides masturbating.
sometimes i 2 birds 1 stone and just draw a naked lady and fap to that.
Only one thing actually matters to me anymore. I've been neglected so much that I know people won't make me happy. Music though, music was what I was born to do, it feels like a drug to play
I used to play guitar but got tendonosis. I am way better at voice and I'm a harmonica virtuoso at this point but i want to do sheet music
This is all I've ever been worth, it's all that ive been able to get praise for... its all that really makes me happy anymore
I want to be as good as Mozart/Beethoven but that's a long hard road and all I have to look forward to in life
