If you got hit head on by a train you'd would most likely die on impact. There is more of a chance you would survive or at least not die immediately if you didn't deal enough head trauma though so you would have to make sure the train hits in the head.

I'd wager the chances of death by train depend on how you go about it. If you jump in front of it you could easily survive (with fewer limbs than before). It'd probably be most prudent to just lay on the tracks and wait for the train to roll you over in a less-than-public area.
