FF XII is the best.
1 is plain, GBA version is better
2 is hard as shit, same as above in dawn of souls
3 is best on DS or Steam, best early game with a job system
4 is mediocre
5 is pretty neat,best on DS
6 is the best 2D of the franchise
7 is good but overrated
8 is angsty as possible
9 is the best 3D one
10 is cringe tier

FFVII is a good place to start. I remember there being a graphic that showed what games to branch off to depending on which ones you enjoyed playing but I don't have it.
