I've heard stories and knew people who've been to his shows and/or met him, he's not really batshit insane (and he doesn't shits on stage often, he compromises with certain bar owners on what hes allow to do or not) it's all a shtick and persona that he builds just to shock people and get people interested to buy his records. From what I've heard from those who met him off stage, he's a pretty tamed guy off stage and considerate towards the fans who buys his records but has a terrible hygiene.
His older songs are surprisingly well done and somewhat tight.
