First thing they teach you in martial arts is to know when to avoid a fight. If the person has a group it's not worth it. Just diffuse the situation or run. Also you learn situational awareness and how not to make extra movements. Most demos for martial arts are flashy but when you learn it you know when you need to do things certain ways.
