It's a fad. Motion controls 2.0. It will go the way of the EyeToy, the Wii, the Kinect, the PlayStation Move.
VR will only be a real thing when mankind figures out a direct computer-brain interface through a surgically implanted chip or something akin to the tech in Serial Experiments Lain. Until then it's just a meme.
