If I tried to make a map, the square would only be pixels.

I live in Kentucky and the most north I have been is some hick town in Indiana, most west is that Mammoth Cave shit, most south being 20 miles north of the state border and the most east being in Prestonsburg in the mountains.

I haven't even seen the ocean.

I'm wondering if it's quite normal for americans to only ever be inside the US their enitre life? You have some of every kind of climate, so i can see why people don't feel a need to go elsewhere. The only thing you don't really have is old cities like in Europe.

Nice tourist location, all terrain forms relatively close by, and the mountains are populated by nice people. If you see an asshole there they're probably a tourist. Seaside's all tourists.

It goes downhill from there though. The capital & around are just bad jokes for cities, which is where I live sadly. Filled to the brim with douchebags, lousy cops, and, of course, gypsies.

Traveling alone is a great robot experience.
There is something really calm about traveling. I can't really explain how much I enjoy sitting alone at an airport reading or watching a movie.

In a country where you don't speak the language, there is no pressure to interact with other people. You can just walk around being alone.

I traveled a lot with my parents as young. And not charter-tier vacation, but more backpacker style trips around in several countries. Seeing the nation, and avoiding tourist traps. They both have traveled around the world on their own and with friends, so they taught me how to travel.

So now I can go anywhere with just a backpack. I usually don't even bring my cellphone, because I want to feel more far away and isolated. I used to keep in touch using internet cafes, but nowadays wifi is everywhere even in the third world.

I just come here because there are a lot of posters to make it not boring. Even if this board sucks overall, there are enough decent threads to make it better than /b/ and other fuckholes.

>>28706098

Yes. I love traveling alone. I've taken all of my trips overseas alone, although I've made many friends along the way.

My confidence problems have always stemmed from general social insecurity and anxiety around women, rather than a lack of confidence in my own ability to cope alone or be in a foreign country alone. I'd always wanted to travel since I was a kid. When I got a job in college, I realized that I could save money and live my dreams.

I made friends with a few smart but well-adjusted immigrants at McDonald's, which was the first job I had. They were students at the same university as me (both have since graduated; one is in medical school and the other is in the Peace Corps with deferred medical school acceptance). I have to give them a lot of credit for at least laying a basis for my learning to talk to other people without coming across as a complete sperglord.

Anyway, being in a place like Turkey where hardly anyone speaks English helps you stop giving a fuck about what other people think. If you go far enough away from tourist hotspots, you either have to interact with people and sound like an ass while speaking their language or starve to death.
