Another anon, vidya programming is the shit man. Highly recommend it. Pic related i did with Java and LibGDX (one of the best 2D frameworks/engines).
What languages do you know? I recommend starting with Game Maker (2d games) or Unity (3d games).
I also did the pixel art, but it's mostly things i've copied pixel by pixel (literally) from other places. I can't really draw.
I've been programming games from the start which was about 3 years ago.

Yep i do, i posted my very first game there which was some small mouse clicker thing.
I recommend going to the agdg general if you ever have any questions on gamedev.
If you've programmed in Java then you can pick up C# pretty easily for Unity.
It depends on what kind of games you're interested in making.
