I've just conducted some further research. My conclusions are that he is mildly autistic, was bullied in his mid to late youth (because of the autism/late development), and has grown up with a general resentment for his generation (because of the bullying).This has caused him to associate with other time periods to disassociate with the current one and all the negative emotions that he has tied to it. The suit is of course part of this.
The channel was started at the point where the bullying would have been intense because of the increased development of his emotional perceptions. It was a coping mechanism.
