My shits are always very hard and my ass often bleeds when I shit. It looks bad seeing how the blood drips into the toilet, and the first couple of swipes leave the toilet paper bright red. But it doesn't hurt at all and doesn't keep bleeding after I wipe.
Do I just need to drink more water or what?

Drink more water and eat more fiber. Light exercise helps, too. Keep things clean so your hemorrhoids don't wind up infected.

OP i got the opposite problem, my shits are always mushy, and often when i poop, the shit breaks off, and the tail of the poop just hangs in my ass and I have to get it out with my fingers.
Also my piss is always very yellow so water is probably my problem.
This has been happening for years though and I haven't been able change my habits and drink more water yet.
