It's definitely affected how I see minorities and women, but not to a degree where it affects my real life. I'm a little critical on myself, sometimes sink into being really unhappy with myself but mostly am able to pull out of that.
Honestly, I don't think it's all bad. I stopped being a weeb thanks to 4chan, I learned to be less spergy about my hobbies and less spergy in general about everything. First came in 2010. Was an avid /v/ browser from 2010-2012. I didn't hear of /r9k/ until it was shut down in early 2011 and was immediately intrigued by the idea of a board for friendless kissless virgins, because at the time I was a friendless kissless virgin. Browsed /r9k/ post-revival from 2011-2013 before ditching it because I acquired friends and got bored, then was on /mu/ from 2013-2015 until I took a break from 4chan entirely early 2015.
I came back a few months ago because despite having friends, I am still a bitter kissless virgin, and /r9k/ gives me a place to vent in a way that would not be accepted literally anywhere else. I also return to /mu/ on occasion, but I'm never going back to /v/. Partially because it was shit even 4 years ago, and partially because I like very few video games these days.
/r9k/ seems mostly the same to the early post-revival days. But there is a distinct difference in the feel of 4chan in general since 2014. "Meme culture" became massive in normieworld last year, and I remember being really put off by all my normie friends talking about "rare pepes". Coming back to /r9k/ after a nearly 3 year break, there is a definite feeling that there are substantial numbers of people who arrived 2014 and after from Facebook and Reddit who unironically or post-ironically use the phrase "dank memes". And that makes me very sad.
4chan's best hope is that shit dies down, the whole meme thing passes over fully into normieverse, and the site becomes a semi-outcast region again. Even to go back to 2011 levels would be great. I feel like there was a period from 2010-2013 where 4chan had gone off the radar and normies really didn't talk about this site or anything that came from here, and while things weren't amazing then, they at least felt original and funny.
