I agree with this on some level. If you have game, your looks can really take a back seat. But the uglier you are the more game you need. BUT the uglier you are the less game your prone to have. I'm not too bad on a good day but it literally gets you nowhere if you can't sway a girl on some level.
I don't know if it's specifically to avoid betas. They do seem to think that men value social status and shit like they do, and seem to think it gives them a leg up in the dating game. It's pretty funny watching the tryhard women get older and ask "I'm wealthy and successful, why can't I find a guy more wealthy and successful than me?"
