Why is this generation so soft? Nobody believes in God anymore, nobody can stay married, colleges have to provide safe places and remove trigger words from their lectures, half of you guys can't even leave the house in fear of...something. What the hell is the problem? Why can't we go out and kick ass anymore?
The problem in my eyes is that we are a generation of now, more and faster. Everyone needs a bigger house, more money, faster news, a hotter girlfriend, bigger muscles, taller people, bigger cocks, nicer clothes, faster scientific breakthroughs, immediate answers to all of our questions, the list goes on and on. While these all aren't necessarily bad things, as scientific breakthroughs have increased exponentially over the last 30 years, it doesn't stop at the work place. Nobody does a job because they love it anymore, they're just trying to climb a little higher on the social ladder, adding a notch on every rung on the way up. Doctors don't give a shit about people, they're just kids that wanted to make more money and stuck with it. Engineers just drag themselves into work after earning their degree because they were told it would earn them good money. Everyone has to lift weights and get gigantic to compete with eachother, being "average" has become a terrible thing, everyone has to be a unique snowflake that exudes attractiveness and sex appeal. The more sexual partners, the better!
God has taken a backseat to science, and I feel its due to the immediate answers science gives us, while religion is a lifelong process that doesn't give any answers until we die. This is just an awful premise to the now, more and faster generation. Who the hell has a whole lifetime to find the answers to why we are here? We want answers right now god damnit! Mr. Dawkins wrote a book that has answers, not hypotheticals! Thats a much easier pill to swallow than the journey of religion, right?

When people have few choices they consider their options and pick the one they think is best and they live with it.
When a person has too many options to consider in a reasonable amount of time they will flounder until they choose an option, but they will never feel it was the best one. They'll never be happy with it.
Whether it's what to eat, where to go, what to do with your spare time, who to date, where to live, who to talk to, or what to study. You have so many option that no matter what you choose to do with your time, you can always wonder if it was the right choice.

That concept really applies to my life.
We have become our own Gods. Our spouses aren't enough anymore, even if its subconscious everyone is always on the lookout for a better prospect, settling down and being grateful for what we have just isn't good enough. Couples argue and fight over petty shit, and when the going gets tough and both sides are doing nothing but landing strategic bombs on eachother, the solution is divorce, banging some more people to feel better about ourselves and then finding another spouse to repeat the process with. Marriage vows don't mean shit, nobody is committed to anything beyond themselves. Theres no more team in a relationship, its just two individuals hoping the other fulfills their wants, not two people working together anymore.
Now why do I say "this generation" as opposed to our parents? Its them too, who the hell do you think made us the way we are? Baby boomers were the beginning of this shitshow, with the free love era, the love of drugs and the subsequent war on drugs, culutural appropriation for all, college for all and wide spanning welfare for people who just find work and socialization too hard. We haven't had to be thankful for what we have since the 1940s, when life was generally shit every other decade. With no strife, we have become complacent, bored and always in search of the next best thing. The idea that "the good lord will provide" extends beyond religion, to a way of looking at the world as something that you can't know all of, but have to accept as it comes.
Living with uncertainty used to be the only option, and it still is, because we can't actually be certain of anything. Science is great for creating solutions to problems, but it can't solve the basic uncertainty of the world we live in.
Science does purport to give answers, but it's mistaken for a form of divination, where if we know enough we believe we can predict the future. Science can only describe the past and suggest the same thing could happen again, the best scientists understand this.

We take most things for granted, something that past generations wouldn't dare to do because they had no other option and were wise enough to live humbly and traditionally rather than extravagantly and immorally like we see today.
We have become "smarter", but we have only fell deeper into the abyss of pointlessness, arrogance, selfishness, immorality, and materialism.
People don't believe in god or the bible or any traditional/religious text anymore, claiming it is obsolete and stupid, when even though it may be real or not real, it hosts rules and values that should be upheld.
We have chosen to see good in wealth,sex and all the other nasty things of today's generation, rather than see the good in things the past generations saw. We have also chosen globalism and multiculturalism, which contributed in creating this.
We have chosen self-destruction in pursuit of hedonism, rather than sticking to old morals that worked for thousands of years.
We can still turn back, but we have become so accustomed to living this way that it is hard, and most likely we can not turn back, aside from a handful of people daring enough to do so.
