Something similar happened to me. My friend invited this cute girl to hang out with him and his friends, and within an hour I was making out with her and groping her ass. I am willing to go as far as giving fashion advice, dating advice, I'll even share my test messages with woman to show how I go about being alpha without being a complete ass. I consider myself the "nice guy" but I honestly don't fall into the friendzone trap and can pick up woman pretty easily.
So just some basic shit for losing your shyness and such
I started to break out of my shyness buy just going to bars and having a drink or two. After I got a nice little buzz going I would just walk right up to girls and start a conversation about anything. My intention for talking to these girls was never to fuck'em or anything but just to work on my approach and interpersonal skills. I would start the conversation with something along the lines of "Hey I just moved to this city, whats some awesome places to go vist?" very none threatening open ended question. From there I would just keep it casual for 5-10 mins. After that I would ask for their number and walk away. I would do this for most of the night and never follow up. I would just use it as a way for me to practice talking to different people and to slowly make myself less awkward.
Always dress and clean yourself up like you are about to meet the love of you life. I know its cheesy as shit but its true. First impressions are a huge deal and you want to look like you are a clean normal person.
I don't know I have a lot of shit to share and stories to tell but I am just free balling here. If anyone has any legit questions feel free to ask. I want to be that chad friend that helps you guys out like my friend did for me. If not I'll quietly retreat back into my lurker status.
