Have you ever made any friends with people on r9k or online in general? It just feels like such a strange concept to me.

Can't say I have. I pretend those on /r9k/ who are friendly are friends, but it is a fleeting friendship.
I had some friends in my time. Online friends stayed online. Meeting someone that way seems sketchy, but then I've done far more dangerous things I suppose. Just be careful.
Met some people from here irl, they were nice.
For other online friends, I met one of my best nignogs online, we live close to each other so we spend a lot of time together. She also introduced me to more people.
Yeah its pretty cool because we actually are interested in the same things where with the few other friends around me we dont have as much in common but are still good friends regardless.

I'm a really shy person, so the only people who I talk to online are other shy people. They usually end up being lonely spergs that call/message me 24/7 though.
Met a girl on /r9k/ a year back who was super nice. We still talk sometimes.
So basically hit or miss
I met one of my best friends in tf2
Has anyone had a bad experience with this? I see threads a lot where people are looking for advice on what to tell their /soc/ hookup for instance about their probably extensive criminal past. I wonder how those on the other side of that rodeo are doing.
I had an online friend when I was 14 and I told people at school and they laughed and said he was a gay pedo coming to bum me
