They got rid of the speedrun/par time, and that's it. Given enemy AI is a thing, if you ran through every demon you'd eventually get swamped and pushed into a corner.
Plus it'd be super jank if you could run through enemies. That's called bad collision.

when did i say that? i said the new game had added bullet sponge enemies you loser. in the original you can go fast because the levels over lap and you come back through areas. also the imps and zombies go down in 1 shot so you arent standing there unloading into them. it doesnt sound like you really understand what dooms about. im not saying its awful or anything this one just doesnt have the magic. if htey just increased the run speed to the haste level the game would be so much better

It's literally impossible to recreate the exact same feel of DOOM 1 and 2 in a modern game.
They have to make it a little more standard simply so it works.
It's still linear, you still need to backtrack and jump around going crazy.
You're desires just can't happen unless they just gave you the original game.

They did a sufficiently good job. Which is a lot more than I can say for most modernizations of classic games.

Honestly I want to try this and the new Wolfenstein games, but my PC is a few years old now and I really want to experience them at decent settings. Oh and the Witcher 3 as well.
I'm probably gonna build another PC this year, if I have the cash. Hopefully with a GTX1080 or 1070. I should be set for a while after that. Of course, then I'll be tempted to get VR. Being poor blows.
