Chinese is tough but don't fret because the slant eyes are taught engrish in playschool and most speak it quite well.
Russian is different. There are so many states in Russia and a lot of them have their own state language as their first, and Russian as a second. If you know which state you are going to, their first language may not actually be Russian, because they mainly only use it at the border crossings.
Plus, depending on which Russian state you visit, it's likely that you would need to learn Russian slang as much as anything.
