I don't have an internet addiction. I just compulsively read. I always had paperbacks in by backpack in school and read them cover to cover over and over again, along with my textbooks. Reading lets me hear another voice in my head instead of my own. I read 4chan, youtube comments, reddit, whatever. It doesn't matter if its good, only if its there and I can read new things all the time and I don't have to think my own thoughts in my head ever again. Nothing is more painful than being stuck in just your own life with just your own thoughts.

I have an escapism in general addiction because I dislike myself and have a fearful, negative perception of life despite being born a white male in one of the richest countries on Earth. I don't really know why, just pure mental illness I guess. Fluoride in the tap water, DES poisoning, toxins in the food, poor parenting, and all that. I also love to obsessively read other peoples' experiences in life for hours at a time, so I can live 1,000 different lives inside my head, and plot out 1,000 different possible futures for myself (none of which ever happen). The internet definitely warped my mind early on and is a huge contributor to my delusional fucked up perspective.
there is no risk or exposure to uncomfortable situations on the internet.
I am NEET and I want to improve my programming skills to get a job. But in the mean I am living with parents in a shitty town where nothing happens so there is nowhere to go. I don't even go and take a walk because the sun is fucking insane here, just going to the store gets me exhausted.
And I need to git gud at this so I spend most of my day at the pc but then these stupid timesinks like 4chan draw all of my attention because I don't have the attention span to go through a book for a long time and don't have many ideas for programming that really catch my interest.
