I'm just now reading the comments under some debate he had with Vee, and I don't recognize any of these people at all (and I watch stupid Sargon/Vee/MW/etc. videos all the time). He is popular because he is one of the only well-produced people on the website who has the opinions that he does. The only other outlets on youtube for this kind of content are low-budget or no-budget guys who speak a disorganized stream of consciousness into the camera for 15 minutes. Their videos have 300 to 2,500 views and they don't really cite sources and the production value is nonexistent.
Those channels also tend to get shut down quickly because of leftists flagging their videos for terrorism, racism, and other nonsense. Leftists don't like socially conservative views so they try to shut those people down via censorship. It happens all the time to small youtube channels who supposedly spout "racist" views. There's a strange break where you have to get a bunch of followers onto your channel very quickly if you're going to produce this kind of stuff. If you garner a lot of subscribers very quickly, then your 3 000 subscribers will get very mad if some of your videos start to disappear due to flags by leftists. Youtube doesn't want the bad publicity. He's not basically untouchable with 78 000 subscribers.
TL;DR; he is so successful because he synthesizes many factors at once. He speaks views that are untold by the mainstream media, so he is one of the only outlets for people with those views. Similar channels that are smaller get deleted because they don't have enough subscribers to get mad @ youtube when leftists start flagging their videos for racism. And, he has a high production value and cites all of his sources so it's not easy to dismiss him, which makes people share his videos. He just came by at the right time and reads his audience well.
