Yes. I think it pretty much replaced Facebook as the normie online "hub".

There's also SnapChat which they use all the time but I'm not sure exactly how it works (if anyone would like to fill me in) or if you can discuss shit on it.

I don't know if you can message people because I'm not a normalfag but SnapChat (probably) allows you to send pictures alongside messages with a changeable expiry time and filters and shit. There are also snapchat 'stories' but I don't know how those work.

No, because they all lack anonymity. Instagram is just like the normie-er Reddit and Tumblr because they both fish for likes.
Whisper is more like 4chan, because it's an app where you can post shit anonymously and it's FILLED with straight up normies.

But instagram seems like it has a similar format to image boards, but I guess less useful for discussion and mostly just for the OP.

So if I had to make a sliding scale of normie (most to least normie) it would be like
