What he said about the first shoot was just barely plausible, but the fact he gave nothing real to back it up makes it very suspect. And he wouldn't get another scene opportunity so soon if he was a new guy, unless it was a gay scene. It takes a long time to work your way up in this business and a lot of guys just give up in their first year, because they don't get enough work. Competition is fierce.
But what really sealed the deal for me that all this is bullshit is the supposed orgy scene. That just doesn't happen without very experienced guys, sorry, because so much can go wrong. You need to maintain your composure, sometimes for hours and have to do what you're asked to on demand, even cumming. Four recent "ex-virgins" would never be allowed to do a scene like this.
And how do I know all these things? I'm not a porn star or into it myself in any way, but I personally know a guy that did it for about two years and gave up when it was clear he was getting nowhere. Most of his scenes were very low-budget, and it was really rare that he got to do anything for a big-name company. I think he said he only ever did so two times, over two years. Very few guys get famous and he wasn't one of them.
It's been years since he stopped so maybe the rules have changed a bit, but back then all he needed was a test once a month. If he came up infected, then he had to cure it and take another test once it was gone to show himself clean, after which he didn't have to take another test for another month.
In nearly all the low-budget shoots, all he needed to show was that test result and he was good to go. Never mind who else slept or did what with who. No wonder so many STIs slip in.
Big-name porn is done with make-up, multiple camera crews, staff and even scripts. Low-budget porn is often done in a motel or hotel room (which is actually illegal, by the way), with one guy with a camera and that's it. The performers have sex with each other for about 20-30 minutes, they get paid and leave, the video gets minimally edited and uploaded online. And that's really it. Nearly all the guys are newcomers trying to strike it big and most don't last in the industry long, and most of the girls are college students wanting extra money. Some of them decide to leave college and try making it big too, and few do.
Production is very cheap. It's basically the cost of the hotel room, and several hundred dollars each for the performers. After which it gets uploaded on a site, for maybe a few dollars at most, but they easily make back what they spent and much more. "Gonzo-porn" is a huge money maker.
