I understand anime conventions back in the 80s and 90s, when downloading anime was a pain in the ass, and the only internet communities were geocities pages for Sailor Moon.
But now you can get any anime for free, or buy any merch off of ebay. Hell, I remember seeing a bunch of AMVs at a convention in a theater with a bunch of people, but that was years and years before youtube existed.
Anime cons are obsolete now. There's really zero reason to go to one unless you want to pay a cosplayer for sex, and why would you do that? No, Mikuru-chan, I will not have sex with you for $500, that price is ridiculous. $45 or I'm soliciting a cosplayer who isn't wearing a pushup bra for sex.
