Yes, this is why I buy guns, stockpile food, water bullets, medical supplies books ect. It's not for zombie but an eventual societal collapse. It would be a cleansing of sorts. A chance to fucking start over. It's probably a sort of coping mechanism for underlying mental issues but it feels very reassuring and I fantasize every night about it all collapsing.

In a real zombie apocalypse all the zombies would die out in the matter of months due to decomposition, so as long as you can survive the initial hordes plus normie raider groups life in general could be somewhat good if the government survives in some form. Labour would be in an extremely low supply so you could be paid immense amounts of currency for practically anything, or be able to secure any job with minimal training. Decades after that life would be far better than anything we had in the 20 or 21st centuries.

Hollywood zombies are pure bullshit. A real life scenario could happen with a worse version of a virus like rabies. Depending how long it takes to show the first symptons and how easily it could spread amongst the population, then we could have a good chunk of the population of the world dead really fast.
If the behavior of the infected person is like a mindless killing machine, then a good deal of these people would be dead in a matter of 48 hours. Dehydration, hemorrhage, etc. Within a week all of the infected would be dead.
Depending on many people die, this shit could really change the world as we know it.

Only issue I would have really is early stages of learning how to make a fire without coal and lighter fluid, then cooking efficiently. Later on when gas becomes hard to find would also turn into an issue. But still, after that first month or so it should be 3-4 years of paradise.

No. What I think I'm attracted to when it comes to post apocalyptic stuff are two things
1 - Not the fighting for my life aspect, but the idea of being in a survivor community, doing well while everyone else struggles and fights for their lives. Having an assignment and being appreciated and watching the community grow and being close
2 - Finding a safe place, like an underground bunker or super protected island or whatever that still has power and protection and guaranteed safety while everyone else doesn't. Living with heat and food and water, in a small cosy place.
While others seem to like the idea of being a post apocalyptic badass, I know realistically, I wouldn't be. I like the idea of a band of survivors more, but I think that's just my need for a group I can rely on who also rely on me.

I'm guessing most. Who hasn't at least gone deer hunting or fishing before? It's not like it's hard. Hell, it's easier than grocery shopping. Sit down and wait for food to come, then get it. In the stores you have to go to the food. I bagged my first deer at 14. Pretty'd up my face and drank the blood and everything. Hunting camp with dad or granddad is a basic rite of passage.

I'd find a place to live in the woods or country area near a lake. One of the first things that everyone will try to gather will be water. Boil the lake water or filter it through dirt and you're good to go. A horse would be good for transportation but currently I've never rode a horse so I'd be fucked for a while. Stockpile, hunt, and survive. It would be nice to make a coat or pants out of bear pelt desu senpai

I've been interested in 'why people like it' for awhile and I think I nailed it down. Its essentially a fusion between a lot of different interests:
-weapons/combat and human gore
-survival strats, meeting other survivor drama
-good old 'end of the world' appeal
I also read that someone said it represents the fear of technology, I think thats dumb though. I thinks in the fear of all the people around us who are largely faceless and have a large impact on our lives. You can easily end up with your life in the hands of someone you don't even know the name of. In a less dramatic sense your livelihood depends on getting a job and working for forces you don't understand getting paid by people you likely hate or don't want to get to know.
