I know a lot of you self-harm or used to.
I have a lot of keloid (raised) scars all over my body and found out about a process called dermabrasion where a surgeon removes upper layers of skin with some glorified sandpaper under local anaesthesia.
So I sanded off the scar myself and put some zinc ointment on it.
Anyone ever do this? This is a test run to see how well the scar heals after that (shaved off around 1.5mm). If it heals well I'll do the rest of my body during winter (less sun and can still go to work without anyone noticing)

What? Why? No, please stop. At least don't cut yourself. Burning hurts much more and leaves barely any scar tissue. It also doesn't bleed and the days after are a lot easier as long as you don't pop the blister.

I read up on dermabrasion and it seems to be most common for acne scars. Just be careful that you don't shave off too much or you might end up with discolored patches of skin (hypodermia or something)
But I'd say go for it.
Just make sure you disinfect everything

I have one major keloid, the rest sort of appear to be fading. Haven't self-harmed since the end of 2014, and breaking up with my qt cutter gf helped, so I feel good about that.
Doesn't look too bad either, from a distance. Still, regrettable reminder of childhood foolishness.

What also supposedly works is cutting the scar away with a scalpel, but I feel safer with sandpaper. It just bleeds a lot.
