He tried to play and sing along to some shitty nu-metal song on his guitar for our school's talent show and instead of being impressed or appreciating his skill, the Chads and Stacies just laughed at him for trying to be cool when he was an overweight awkward kid who looked like his mother still dressed him. It was sad because he wasn't even that bad and I could tell he was really getting into it, probably thinking this was his "big break" and that it would go down similarly to how he daydreamed it would.
Instead a few of the Stacies would sarcastically and mockingly ask him about how rockstardom was going for him and some of the football playing Chads would make fun of him by playing air guitar. People laughed along too, which is fucked up because they were all basically making fun of the kid for daring to try and move up in the school's social caste system.
That would give my life more meaning that it ever will.
