That's funny, I just started a Hardcore new vegas playthrough
Put a ton of mods on it though, regular "hardcore, very hard more" fallout is shoot something 20 times with a 50 cal till it dies
With this mod I take a ton of damage but so do enemies, much more fun, plus I have like 50 others activated

Yeah thats exactly what survival mode is, I die in like 2 shots from any enemy my level+ but I also kill them in that few shots too, also removes fast travel and requires you to drink food/water and you can only save by sleeping. Try it shit is so fun

Seems like all the new games have been pandering to casuals lately, Fallout 4 was definitely intended to be babys first RPG, even Dark Souls 3 was pretty easy

I think a lot of it is based on when it came out
Runescape came out in like 99' so the selection of games wasn't huge at the time. MMO's offered a lot of content and ability to play with people (inb4 stuff like quake, etc, the selection wasn't as big as it is today)
I really don't think there's been a big new RPG released in the last couple years, probably because it's just the wrong time for them, new players don't want to get into them anymore

my main interest in the game is PVP (also kind of interested in pvm if it gets a bit better) and you need high stats to do well in mid-wild pking. I don't bot for gold or for quest related stats, just for boring training like range.

I used to love pure pking. Had a near maxed pure back in the day, was really fun. Tried again with OSRS got range and strength to high 60s but cant be fucked to train it further and pking only really gets fun at 80+ combat stats. The other issue is that there's little to no noobs wandering into the wilderness these days and most guys know what they're doing so pking becomes a boring repititive dice rolling game.

I just checked, normal runescape has like 50k players online, OSRS has like 30k
They barely pay for servers and have like 10 people on the OSRS team compared to hundreds for Runescape 3
I really don't know why they refuse to release it, it's only going to make them money and they can look at the model of another company that did the same thing successfully
