How does /r9k/ feel about bicycles for commuting? Are they preferable to automobiles? Do you commute by bike?

Do I look like a wagecuck?

>save 100% on would-be fuel costs; no need to refuel ever

I don't understand why people here talk about "wagecucks." Welfare is literally dependence on and bondage to the government.
>>
>>28518131
I never learned. It never really interested me.

You say this like hastening the destruction of this normie world is a bad thing
>>

Used to cycle to work and back 4 miles each way. It was great during summer.

Don't destroy it before we leave to colonize other worlds.

Riding a bike totally ruins my hair and if my hair looks like shit I look like shit

Its easy man if you're over weight you're naturally boyant.

If it flows in the wind, it's not good enough for the service.

i respect the people who join it for being brave, but not for making a good decision and not for "the service" itself. no man should serve anothers whim to die needlessly

Is it not better to pursue financial freedom than to submit yourself to the snare of state dependency?
>>
>>28518086
I ride my bike all the time. But I'm from Germany where the cities are specifically designed for this. It's pretty exotic and hipsterish in the US though.
>>
>>28519525
I found London OK for it. You can't let yourself be afraid though otherwise car drivers will eat you alive. I used to go up the Finchley Road on the way home, and more recently around Hyde Park Corner. You need to be assertive.

I bike to work! Its great as I hate driving. (Gives me anxiety/panic if something happens)

Only about 3-4km (1-2 miles) and takes about 15-20mins depending on how fast I go.

Not super common here in Sweden/this town, but I do see plenty of commuters on bikes.

Holy shit that looks so bleak and depressing.

I cycle 12 miles every day, best decision I ever made in my life.
it was my robotness that started it, i hated using public transport because I had to be around other people. Wanted to travel in solitude but didn't need a car since my whole life revolves around a 12 mile radius so I just got a bike on gumtree. Saved mega bucks and feel a lot happier for it

and now the negatives:

1. every time i bike somewhere, i have to lug around and big heavy lock because god knows in my shitty town if you leave a bike unattended for 5 mintues, some homeless guy or some nigger is going to steal it. im routinely faced with the dilemma of there being no places to lock my bike when i go into town. businesses here dont give a shit about bikers, so stores dont put bike racks out in front of the stores to lock your bike to. so you are stuck trying to find a post or a tree, which many businesses dont allow and theyll cut your lock. if you live in a bike friendly town, great, but so many shit towns that are full of blacks and homeless people are not. ive had 3 bikes stolen
>>
>>28519997
theres a word for that. i cant remember it tho
>>
>>28518086
i miss having a bike, damn, it was my favorite form of exercise, it broke and then i lost it :(
>>
>>28520043
you do know that you don't have to do 35 years of wagecuck service in order to get financial freedom, right?

most people end up doing the wagecuck thing because they're retarded and just take what they're given. they've been institutionalized since 5 or 6 years old and when they graduate university they can't bear to be in control of their own lives

I know guys that work 3 to 6 months of the year and spend the rest riding motorbikes or pursuing other hobbies. If you don't have any major expenses it's easy to do.
-don't pay rent
-cook proper food, don't eat out or subsist on frozen pizza
-only work jobs that pay decently (20+/hour), and do as much overtime as possible, since that's time and a half

there are a few freelance jobs that can net upwards of 80 grand in a month, but they generally require very high intelligence and years of self-teaching, since no university can train someone to do that kind of job.

80cc will get you 90-100mpg

Very cheap transportation.

>>
>>28520718
You can get way more than 8mph on a bike.

>>28520802
Yup.
>>
>>28520829

The anon I was quoting cited a 2 mile journey in 15 minutes as his quickest performance.

>you do know that you don't have to do 35 years of wagecuck service in order to get financial freedom, right?
Yet the conditions which result in a person with the skills outlined in your post are extremely uncommon. I don't see the value.
>>
>>28520852
That could be including traffic & intersections, which you have to deal with in a car anyways.
>>
>>28520829
I'm genuinely sorry anon. I bike for transportation and wouldn't know how to address that.
>>
>>28520412

You say it like jobs like that fall from the sky my man.

It's still a ridiculously slow time.
