It's not tolerated in US prisons due to PREA laws. Places that knowingly look the other way or contribute to it happening can be fined and people arrested. Does rape or sexual slavery happen? Yeah because it goes unreported cause inmates dont like talking to officers about prison business in general and definitely not something as serious as homosexual activity.

In reality it's pretty monotous because repitition keeps the inmates submissive. Sometimes riots break out but most prisons keep things in check. Don't join a prison gang if you're on anything less than maximum security

Yeah there are inmates I talk to more than others. My clerk that handles scheduling of workers and my porters. I wouldnt say I like any one them as friends but I tolerate some better than others.

If you are talking about inmate beatings ie fights then I don't know. They come and they go in phases. Some times we can go 3 weeks without a fight and other times we have multiple fights in the same day for 3 days.

Depends on them really and what meds they are on at the time. One guy was convinced that we were secretly gonna come into his cell and beat him up while he was sleeping. So we was paranoid, talking to himself etc. you can tell by their faces though.
