As someone who also listens to them, it's rightful genre is Melodic Death Metal.
But they are also considered Viking metal due to singing about Nordic origins, folklore and essentially Vikings.
There's actually plenty of bands who sing of the similar topics and are labeled as a subgenre of Viking metal.

I prefer Tyr but Blood of Heroes didn't feel like the old stuff.
