I typically showed up 5-10 minutes early, then maybe talk to some of the people who were already there or ignore them if I felt like it.

Well, I had a lot in highschool, somehow. But in junior high, I had 1 by the time I got to the 8th grade (I thought I had a bunch in grade 7, but they saw I was a easy target, and started using me to look cool by bullying me and shit). This was before everyone had cellphones, so this 1 friend and I didn't get to hangout much (in totally different classes). I ate my lunch infornt of the library, then I learned we had a movie room. This was where all the losers went. I also went there to avoid people. At least I had movies.

Best thing is to have programs for high school(one for science, one for social studies, etc), and then divide the students based on the programs they choose, like they have here.
