sometimes i get too insulted if my grades slip and i just throw myself at the material and battle with it until it works out. i won't let the class end with anything less than an 85, that's my standard.

some people can literally piss on the floor in every class and walk out with an A, for me it's a constant battle to do it. i don't get C's because smug profs piss me off.

I didn't even study for O-Chem and I got a C in both courses and passed ACS certification. I learned and retained the hydroboration reaction for about one week and then forgot it after the final.

Fuck this gay shit. Just 2 more weeks and exams and then I can specialise if I don't fail this bullshit.
>>
>>28500128
Failing, haven't spent the thinnest amount of effort, and without a doubt about your failure, is actually quite peaceful.

I speak from experience of 2 years that I have spent fucking around in college. I could sleep at night before the final with no stress knowing that it is without a doubt too late. Regrets only come later, and they hit hard. But that's another story.

This time, I actually semi-studied, and you cannot imagine how much scarier it feels even though in perspective, having inconsistently studied beats not having studied at all by a mile.

Something is actually at stake when you try. And not knowing if you've tried hard enough or smart enough to succeed, the uncertainty of it, is the worse.

Yes, it's stressful, but getting a bad grade isn't the end of the world.
Sure, won't be going to grad school any time soon, but just remember, work experience is everything, and most employers don't care about grades unless you're going into research.

>>
>>28500214
You can actually spend entire semester attending all classes, taking all the notes and still fail.

I have done that. When you are not proactively engaged with the material, the missing hours of effort pile up and overwhelm you in the end.
>>
>>28500424
those were actually the only C's I got in college, somehow I was able to intuit that I could be incredibly lazy with those courses despite their difficulty. It was either put in dozens of hours of studying for maybe a solid B or skimp by on barely anything. It was basically luck though.

Tell me about it. Worst part is in my course all the first year chem & electric is crammed into one subject, so we started elec from scratch in week 7. I still don't get how to analyse circuits properly.
>>
>>28500540
I never really put that much effort into getting As. Half the grade is just showing up. You can totally skip class and get decent grades, but often there'd be extra credit just for being there because the professor got annoyed that no one showed up. Sometimes they'd give out test questions. I had nowhere else better to be anyways.

Learning how to read the teachers and read exams is also a good way to get As easily. Tons of effort put into studying can be destroyed just because a teacher is bad at writing tests or they do some weird format.

Just knowing how to game multiple choice questions or how to properly BS a question you don't know for at least partial credit will get you C's without studying in most classes.

Depends on the class I suppose. Obviously you can't do this for a math based class. Most teachers are bad at writing exams though, even when they take questions from the textbook publisher. Half the time the answer to a question is inside another question. Sometimes it's very easy to rule out wrong choices too, like "Is It -5, 5, or 20?" - it's very likely that 20 is not the answer.

I probably failed my japanese class, I did pretty well in it up until the last 2 tests which I completely failed. The final would have replaced my lowest test grade but I got way too stressed about it once I realized I had to do really well and had a minor panic attack during it where I couldn't breathe and threw up in my mouth, I barely even remember turning it in.

And then I'm planning on retaking my econ class online over the summer so I didn't even go to it, it's easy as shit but the only one available this semester was at 8am and I was working nights the first part of the year so I missed too many classes.

Also CD4 is the protein that binds T-helper cells to other white blood cells so they can tell'em shit's going down.
>>
>>28501062
yep, work out your percentage

e.g. midterm worth 20% of the class, you get 80%, you get 16/20% in that block

depending on how generous your school is, you maybe have an alternative grading scheme that benefits you more
>>
>>28501294
Well, there's also a project that is worth a test grade(they're worth 30% of my grade). She still hasn't factored that in and I'm sure I got 100 on it.

Could that offset the final by a bit?

It's possible, but you'd really have to try to fuck it up for that to happen. There are two ways to do that:

Be a dick/unprofessional at work.
OR
Somehow have faked it through the interview process and don't know how to do your job. They'll figure out pretty quick that you don't know what you're doing and fire your ass. The only exception is if you're doing IT or something where you can Google everything you run into.

>>28504601
Show up to lecture and take notes. Always. Listening to the prof talk obviously helps and writing it down helps solidify it in your memory better. Really obvious I know but some people still don't do it.

If we're talking terminology and stuff then rereading your notes and using notecards helps. Go through what you need to know, citing any terms then the definition a few times each, then quiz yourself on all of it to see if you remember them. Don't do it in the same order each time otherwise you just memorize their order. Online flash card shit is good for doing that easily like studyblue. Plus some students upload flash card collections they make for their courses so you can use theirs instead of manually entering everything in.

If we're talking about formulas then doing practice problems over and over and over again gets the job done. Only way to do it really.

If you have your old assignments or tests from past semesters to look at those help in any kind of course. Most of this is for courses in general but hey if it works it works I guess. Not especially detailed advice I guess though, sorry.
>>28504605
Because I'm a faggot duh

that's more detail that I could ever hope for, for too long I have been really inefficient in my way of studying, e.g. read manual until I lost focus, had hard time with classes where not only you have to grasp the bigger picture but also be aware of all the tiny details

As a former shithead failure who is now winning hard, i can tell you this much: it's literally as simple as going to class and doing the homework. you can't help but get at least B's if you do that much. from there, if you actually study some, you'll get A's.

It actually takes less time overall, and is way less stress. This finals week has been a breeze since my grades so far are so high that i can get 40's and 50's on every final and still come up with a 4.0 for the semester.

It's pretty sick watching kids flushing out of the program though, I'm filled with regret watching them fuck up and skip classes then stress hard studying hard for the final with the grade meaning the difference between passing and failing..

I was also chubby and getting /fit/ helped me study

I know that feel, it is like a drug that doesn't even make you feel good.
>>
>tfw I fucked up all of my finals and ended up with a B+ in all of my classes that I was supposed to get an A in
>>
>>28505456
Did you ever get non-lethally taken down like in those stealth video game while on guarding duty?

Also what's in the warehouse?
>>
>>28505493
It was just a bunch of welding equipment and surplus shit we used for training

>machine component design class
>didn't do final project that was 15% of grade
>grades on homework, quizzes, and tests weren't that great either
>might have to take it again
>a third time
>>
>>28505518
Damn, that sounds exciting. Any guarding story?
>>
>>28505534
at my school retaking something a third time made you fill out a form saying you were an autistic fuck up and you understood if you cocked up again you had to transfer somwhere else to take the class
>>
>>28505534
How do you fail the same class 3 times

Are you doing crack
>>
>>28505534
Wouldn't you have known almost the exact answers to everything on the quizzes and tests by then?
>>
>Calc 3

What horrible meme major makes you take this.

My bullshit BS only made me take up to calc 2.
>>
>>28505628
not the anon but I know you need it for any kind of finance math, it's definitely not meme

If you get your shit together and work hard you can graduate in two year. Thing is anon that I learned after fucking up and still fucking up is that you need to dedicate your life to school. 1. You should never ever get a zero for not doing an assignment, any bad grade you get should be because you did badly not because you didn't try at all. 2. Go to class, I like to think of going to class each day as one free answer on the next exam. 3. If you're like me then you hate studying/setting up a schedule go study so so your homework/projects right away, like the day they are assigned. Doing your homework and not missing a class is most of the time enough to get a C in the class.

Summarizing. Honestly the best way to memorize is getting it down on paper. Through graphs, colored pencils, whatever, the important thing is to get it down.
>>
It makes me so sad that you guys and I are suffering, this world is a fucking peice of shit. If I won the lottery id definitely give you all some

I had an l2S class (tutoring) that I attended every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

It helped, but I forgot all the trig stuff since we did it quite some ago.
>>
>>28505690
I do that, but somehow I feel I'm being awfully inefficient, as if I have my head in fog while doing it. It makes question if I'll just all forget once I get to the tests. But that's no excuse, I can probably find old test online and do them to get a general sense of how well I will do.
>>
>>28505783
you should have just reviewed your tutoring notes
>>
failed several classes over the years, dropped out of college last year. Like an idiot, I thought that college might be the place where I really "blossom" and finally get something of a social life and really make things happen. Instead I failed everything and was lonelier than ever before. It's just been a downward spiral. Here I am with a shitty retail job wondering where it all went so wrong.

I dropped it last semester cause I thought I would fail. This time I saw it all the way through. Hoping I pass
>>
>>28505824
Did you care?
>>
>>28505805
I did. I just ended up prioritizing shit that barely ended up on the test. The optional final review was very misleading
>>
Not me... but I might get a C or 2. Real analysis final in 8 hours. Haven't done shit all semester.
>>
>>28505849
My finals are next week and I dreamed what you described yesterday.
