Guys I'm seriously convinced I'm mentally retarded at this point. I got asked out for the first time ever by an actual qt last weekend and instead of just going and hanging out like a normal fucking human being I sat here and got drunk on r9k instead because I was nervous. What should I do to fix this recurring problem? Would Xanax help? Please advise

Just man up and force yourself in social situations. Use alcohol in moderation to ease up, when the event allows for it. Stop overthinking things and practice, practice, practice. You'll get better at this. At least it has worked for me.

Do you think there's any chance I'd get something to take as needed instead of something everyday like Zoloft? Docs seem hesitant to give the fast acting drugs because of abuse but I only get severely anxious in certain situations.

Ask for a more up-to-date SSRI (better side effects). Zoloft is over 10 years old for God's sake.
"fast acting" I don't know what you mean?
SSRIs will have a a positive effect (in terms of doing things that are good for you but difficult) but don't expect a miracle.
