I didn't get whistling figured out until I was 18. Dad described it to me a number of times but as a kid, I couldn't do it to save my life. It just happened to click at that age.
I think I got snapping figured out sometime earlier, in tween/teen years. Kinda hurts just the tiniest bit when you make it crack just right. When I was like 4-5, mummy and pep-pep like to recount how to attempt to snap my fingers, I would simply touch my thumb to my forefinger and rapidly pull them directly apart, without scraping/glancing them on each other to get any friction going back in towards the palm.

I remember going through a stage of pretty bad anxiety when I was a young teenager for not being able to snap my fingers, which resulted in spending go knows how fucking long every day for weeks on end till it finally clicked.
Similar thing with whistling, only I still can't whistle for shit over a decade later. For some reason I kind of assumed I was one of the strange few people who 1. couldn't perform these two things, 2. cared about it, 3. suffered fucking anxiety from it.
