Want to be a PhD in bio-informatics. Setting myself up to never have to see another human again. People will just send me data and I will have my computer analyze it and give them the result. My job will be mostly done by a machine, and one day I'll simply walk away, disappear, and they may never notice.

I'm starting University in the winter, and I want to go for a PhD in English. Everyone's telling me it's a bad idea, however most of them ended up dropping out of their Engineering or Nursing programs, so I don't really want to take their advice seriously. Is this really a bad idea, guys?
