Who /dumb/ here? The answer is not 61 dumb fuck.
>>28462421
let the starting number of people = x
x -19 + 17 = 63
x -2 = 63
x = 65
65 people were on the train to begin with
>61
19 - 100 ( could use any number here ) = 81
81 + 17 = 98
98 - 63 = 35 people on the train
simple
It's 65
oreeeeeeeeegano

How did you come up with this weird, convoluted method? Who taught you to do this? Were you homeschooled? Let me show you an easier way. Let x = the amount of people who were on the train to begin with and write:
x - 19 + 17 = 63

Was the movie 'A Beautiful Mind', based on you?

Doesn't "to begin with" imply a number before the first stop?

huh
63 - 17 = 46
46 + 19 = 65
i'm a fucking retard, how does anyone get '61'?

check muh work
19 - 17 = 2
63 + 2 = 65

Thats all well and good if you remember the forumla.
>>28462572
Really hope you are joking rn
>>28462590
You start with x, the total amount of people..
19 people leave, so you get x - 19. 17 people get on, however, so you actually get x - 19 + 17, and since we know how many people are on the train after that, we can say that x - 19 + 17 = 63. If you do the math on the non-x numbers, you get x - 2 = 63. If you add 2, you get x, which is 65. But, if you just subtract the 2, you get 61. So, I assume that's what people get wrong.

That isnt a memorized forumla for this quetion, it is literally just finding x, it can be used to find unknown values. Did you not take grade 7 math?

How did you even fuck up this badly
