Who Magic here?
I've never been into card games, but a college friend of mine introduced me to magic. Its tons of fun, played with him a bunch over the past year. Always used his decks though.
Just recently bought a starter deck to mess around with. Though I have nobody to play with over the summer.

Like I said, I played with my friends decks mostly.
My personal favorite of his was a counter deck. Lots of fun stacking counters on creatures.
The deck I just bought is a red/blue deck with an ability called "surge". Basically the idea is you throw down a card for normal mana cost, and then subsequent cards with surge can be used at a reduced cost.
Seems pretty cool, but I've yet to use it.

It's alright. I've been playing on and off since 2003. Competitive Magic is way too expensive though. Would not recommend.
For casual play or pauper events (decks made from only common cards) it's fine.

Its just fun to play casually imo. Competition tends to ruin the enjoyment.
Wanted to start playing when I was 16 had a decent mix of black and red deck but couldn't find anywhere to use it so it's been left on my cupboard ever since.
Started playing again recently. Before it would be me and a few school buddies. Played my first actual event on Saturday with a green/blue random deck I threw together in an hour before work. Got stomped. Wanna play next week too.

In July they're releasing the new set of cards, Eldritch Moon. Go to a prerelease at a local card shop. You'll be given 6 packs of cards and you'll have to make a deck of 40 cards with the cards you pulled from the packs. It's good for people starting out because now you'll be on euqal footing with the people who normally bring $500 pro decks to Friday Night Magic.

I used to play some time ago, we have a lot of places to play here. Usually monogreen tribal elves, but I experimented with other decks, most succesful of those was the classic red dmg deck.

Using Nissa made it far too easy so I threw her away.
Anyway, I managed to make a pretty strong deck, except it failed miserably against flying. Guys with flying based decks could kick me in few turns, because any remedy for flyers wasn't enough
i started playing in M11. MTG is really fun if you have at least one person to play with, it takes my mind off things

Magic is pretty easy. There's a turn order, mana (via lands) and a system for damage and attacks.
Every complexity in the game comes from synergy between the special effects on the cards.
