Your body decomposes in the ground while your consciousness is released into the aether.

Once your consciousness is in the aether, you become eligible to be reincarnated partially in the form of personal disposition, mindsets, and natural talent found in your subsequent offspring.

Supposing you don't have children, it's still possible to reincarnate but the "wait" period between your death and rebirth would be longer simply because without offspring, the need to recall your consciousness drastically diminished.

Though this seems significant, the duration you wait is irrelevant because your are only capable of experiencing time as a living being.

so not having babbies = increased likelihood of being born in a drastically different future?

I guess I like this idea...

Pretty much.

However, you have to consider the probability of you never being reincarnated ever again. By having a child or rearing a family, you get one more "ticket" for the lottery. Even if you happen to have a thousand of these tickets, there's always the chance of you failing to win the drawing.
>>
You get tortured for all of eternity. To varying degrees, depending on how bad you fucked up.
>>
When you get a medical disability or get your brain physically fucked up you'll realize how insignificant your existence was and that you're just an animal who got lucky.
>>
>>28439749
I'm a collection of matter. After my death, some of that matter -- depending on where exactly it sat -- decides to fall off. Some does it sooner and farther than the other, e.g. the matter that tends to go away in scavengers' stomachs travels greater distances than the matter that soaks into the ground.
>>
>>28439858
>Your body decomposes in the ground while your consciousness is released

This makes as much sense as 'the house collapsed while doing the dishes was released'.
>>
When you die your world ceases to exist. There is nothing. The universe in which you experience is gone forever while life around you moves on. Go do shit with your life already, you only have so much time in your only life.
>>
>>28440193
>your world
>>28440193
>The universe in which you experience

There is only one world and only one universe and it's going to go on very well without me in it thank you very much.
>>
>>28439749
Nothing happens senpai. You're just gone.
>>
>>28440225
>You're just gone.

That's not really the best phrasing actually. Since you're the matter, you very much continue consisting. You just get distributed by the wildlife and the environment around the place faster than you used to in life by means of losing hair, skin, and so on.
>>
>>28439749
Those wheels yield extremely well to that 'switching peception of direction' phenomenon.
>>
After we die there will continue to be new lifeforms that will require consciousnesses. I can only hope those consciousnesses are entirely fresh each time, and that I won't have to participate.
>>
>>28440336
It's funny that people even come to allow for that possibility. 'Look, that soda can over there... do you wonder its essence will vaguely travel to another one after an arbitrary designated point?'
>>
>>28440360
Makes sense that it's been thought of, sounds like a perfect hell.
>>
>>28440360
>>28440336
In fact, I wouldn't even say that consciousness exists. Just statistical patterns according to which brains tend to interact with the environment
>>
Your consciousness ceases to exist and nothing happens like before you were born
>>
>>28439749
Nothing, no heaven, no hell, no blackness, no light

Just nothing
>>
Think about how it was before you were born. Nothing, you weren't conscious. Think about when you go to sleep. Where did the time go? Nothing. Your mental facilities for consciousness die which means you are no longer conscious.
>>
>>28440404
That's what consciousness is. There's nothing magical about it.
>>
>>28439749

You take off your VR googles as a 7year old kid in the future and get to live your life with the experiences you've made from a lifetime. They have done this as education in the future is to tedius and long compared to our true 30 year old lifespan, so most people spend their time in VR to prolongue their life hoping someone will find a cure for death.

In fact the multiverse is just us sensing all the other VR simulations in the system.

I think nothing happens until you are reborn as the same exact person with no memories and live through the same exact life again. This has happened infinite times and will continue forever. You have been a pathetic, virgin loser for eternity, and you just keep fucking up each time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_return
>>
>>28439858
What is the nature of the "waiting" period. Am I conscious during that time? What kind of state will I be in?
>>
>>28441123
More like you take your goggles off as an 80-year-old man. You wanted to experience your youth again through VR and have some fun but you're a little senile so you got carried away and forgot you were in VR.
You lived your life exactly the same way, making exactly the same wrong decisions. The only thing that changed is that you weren't lucky in VR and died when you would have survived in reality.

You take off the goggles and it's only been 3 days in reality. You look at the playlog on the goggles and this is the third time you've done this.

So you put them back on and go again.

The big deal is about qualia
why we have an inner speech?
why are we capable of having deep thoughts?
why aren't we philosophical zombies?
>>
>>28440212
what if the consciousness is a pocket universe?
while it can't actually manipulate reality, the way we perceive things is certainly warped and very subjective

Nothing can be proven but based on what we can observe through nature, reincarnation is the most plausible result. Whether karma or not has any effect on this, no one can determine.

I'm open to all possibilities but I believe that if you have """"good"""" enough karma your consciousness will join with the rest of the living universe and "you" will be able to objectively expierence all forms of life forever.

Calm your tits Buddha. When you die nothing special happens. No purgatory. No party. No bitches. We're nothing but a bunch of mammals wandering on a rock that is circularly traveling around a giant hydrogen balloon. Life is not meaningless since it has a purpose which is to reproduce itself and persevere in itself - this idea is biologically founded - but the very idea of reasoning on a post-organic afterlife is absurd.

I'm glad so many people apparently have experienced death before and know exactly what will happen!
Oh wait, you faggots are all just guessing. Only difference between us all is that some people among us seem to enjoy spouting their opinions as if they're fact a bit more than the rest
