I had a lot of ear infections as a kid, including one that resulted in pus pouring out of my ears all day. Do those cause tinnitus, though?

I was digging around in my ear at the moment I saw this thread. Weird.
I had ear infections a lot as a kid. I'm deaf in one ear because of it and I hear a steady hum, like someone blowing across the top of a bottle from the other.
I dunno how you got it, but I got it from putting in a mortar upside down and it exploding right by me.

What? I think a dog barking in a newborn's ear could easily damage it. And yeah my mom also used q-tips on my ears often. Maybe she went too deep.
