I have fucking 6 A Level exams in the next month and I have to cram every single one. Anyone else doing A Level exams this Summer?
>>
Yeah me
Bloxxxxxx

Isn't there a containment thread for all of you?

GL OP!
>>
>>28424170
Yeah, Biology and Stats 2 tomorrow and day after. Trying to cram both. Fuck this shit
>>
>>28424786
Jesus Christ, good luck mate. I'm doing mostly useless essay based subjects.
>>
>6
That's just fucking stupid. You brought this upon yourself. Also, A-levels are piss easy, I only spent 2 days revising for each exam (sometimes 1 day) and I got A* A* A B.
>>
>>28424826
I'm a lazy shit, I've done this for GCSEs and AS Levels. Every year I say "I'll revise in advance this time", never happens.
>>
I have nine in total
Maths, physics, chemistry and ICT
>>
>>28424981
GL anon, hard as fuck A Levels you're doing. Except ICT (I also do it), easy as piss.
>>
>>28425002
You can say that again, physics is killing me. Not so much the mechanics or quantum stuff, but waves are cancer
Good luck with yours too, hope you've started revising :^)
>>
>>28425047
Eh, sort of started, mostly making summaries of the text books atm. I'll cram everything in a few days before the exam. (literally my only option)
>>
I keep getting distracted when i revise and end uo doing nothing, anyone know what to do?
>>
>>28425073
Pretty much what I'm doing, taking notes from the textbook over and over

What subjects are you taking anon?

Nope been dealing with that conundrum since I started revising for exams years ago, easier said than done, but stay focused and take regular breaks. Usually the days before an exam, panic sets in and my body goes into auto-pilot mode.

I have 8 exams in the next 3 weeks
>I haven't even started learning the content yet
>>
>>28424170
Computer science, Mathematics and physics here.

I dropped chemistry because I have absolutely no intention of taking to university and it was by far the hardest A-level out of all I'm doing.
>>
>>28425131
Enjoying them all?
>>
11 here:

>Physics FPaF
>Physics Newtonian World
>Maths C4
>Maths FP1
>Maths FP2
>Maths FP3
>Maths S2
>Maths M2
>Maths M3
>Electronics Communications
>Electronics Control Systems

First exam is M2 on the 18th
>>
>>28425149
Nope, hate every single one. Geography is by far the worst, so much to learn, yet so little can come up in the exam.
>>
>>28425175
That sucks then
What are your plans for after?
>>
>>28425197
Got a Uni offer which I'll most likely meet. Computer Science at a Top 30 University. What about you?

Not bad tbqh

I'm still in my first year (no ban pls), so I'll probably drop ICT then try to get in uni for maths
>>

C4 is alright, those further modules are supposed to be killers though
>>
>>28425245
Yeah definitely drop ICT, it's a massive commitment in A2, despite it being a relatively useless subject. I regret not taking up Maths for A Level, most top Universities require it for Computer Science.

How are you man revising?

I'm fucking struggling with this shit. Been using Quizlet a bit to make revision cards. Doing some past papers.

It's a struggle to look over my notes because I ended up becoming really disorganised.

And I constantly end up procrastinating.

I need ABB for all my current offers, which will be tough, but the real issue is that I want to get AAB so I can reapply and get into Manchester because I really fucking liked it there when I visited.
>>
>>28426103
Sorry but probably not. I have several normie friends who are sociable but still didn't make friends. Then the ones who moved out have made new friends. Good luck though :^).

I've got 5 exams starting next Monday and I can't do any revision. My procrastination is getting worse - I used to procrastinate with video games or youtube but today I spent an hour re-organizing my folders instead of doing any work. How do I force myself to revise lads?

>>28425503
Yep. Aristotle and Plato are completely full of shit, why are they even on the syllabus
>>
>>28426174
Summarising text from text books. Cramming shit into my head. That's about it. It's worked for me in the past, but it's definitely not an efficient method of revision.
>>
>>28426151
It can be really interesting and just be like a fun version of maths, but it can be horribly dull.

The CompSci is the odd one out, but I know someone who went down the route of English and Compsci and now owns a castle in Germany so thats what I'm hoping for
>>
>>28426084
How does that actually work?

I don't do BTECs, but apparently they give you loads of UCAS points. Like more than A Levels. But they're fucking BTECs, so they're supposed to be easier.

I don't get it.
>>
>>28426174
Anki is fucking amazing lad, I was sceptical at first but it really helps if you need to remember a bunch of shit

Business Studies. The stuff you need to know is all repetitive nonsensical garbage. It all somehow boils down to motivation and fucking cash flow. It's so easy that I find it difficult. There is so much shit to write about that I overthink it.

Most "good" Universities don't accept BTECs. I believe you get the same UCAS points. The highest grade you can get for BTECs is D* which is the same as an A* I believe. But yeah BTECs are supposedly easy as shit, no where near as intensive as A levels.

>implying what university you go to matters.

It doesn't. Coming from someone who has been to 4.

Oxford has the same amount of fucking retards as Reading, as Brighton, as Sussex, etc.

Any STEM field won't care what uni you've come from, and if they do, their HR department is so retarded that they don't deserve you.

If you don't study STEM, it might matter to employers, but if you don't study STEM(or Medicine), don't go to university, there is no fucking point.

Even some STEM degrees are fucking pointless. Don't ever convince yourself any BSc with "Design" in the title is STEM either. It's glorified arts and everyone will think you're a faggot.
>>
Fucked in pretty much all of them.

Suppose you're right, but it'd be a lie to say that the better the University is the more polish your CV has. If I was an employer I'd definitely be more impressed with a Math graduate from Cambridge than an ex-poly, but again, after you get your first job, experience is most important.

Thats a HR department thing though, lots of businesses are fucking off their HR departments because they finally realize that HR is the biggest waste of fucking money in the modern workplace. Normally run by hugely unqualified and sociopathic morons.

Because in the UK, you have one round of exams at the end of the year.

Its not like in the US where your final accounts for maybe 20% of your total grade, and the classes in A levels last for two semesters.

Thanks, on the path for a merit so far.

The foundation year was basically both years of Biology/Chemistry/Maths (mostly statistics) A Levels together in one year along with some introductory university level material. Most people dropped out but I'd say that's more a lack of effort on their part than me being great.

There weren't more international students proportionally than in my actual undergrad classes, this was more of a getting people who are just under the requirements but showed promise into the uni. I really kicked into gear then whereas I coasted hard during GCSEs/A Levels.

I got it real easy for A Level, Media, Extended Project and ICT. My teacher for extended project is letting my submit my media coursework as a final piece for project.

On my media course there is a kid who is pretty odd, he has an obsession with Chris Benoit and our media teacher, to the point where he posts pictures of the guy's wedding pictures on /b/ and asks how people would fuck/kill his wife. But a part of our media work is too submit a 1400-1800 word essay which explains your chosen topic of study and how it ties in with a production you film. This is the email we got sent today, highlighting what we all had to do.

>>28428561
It's near impossible to get caught doing unless you're a complete retard. The pens look perfectly normal when held (you just rotate the pen in your hand slightly to see the notes) as the gap in the grip is small.
>>
>>28428652
This is only useful for subjects that you need to remember a lot of facts for, pages of notes aren't going to help you solve an equation

Knowing the material on the exam is one thing, but the most important thing is knowing how to answer the questions.

If you don't know how to structure your essay properly you'll leave things out and drop loads of marks.

Oh yeah. It's only handy when you need to remember key things. I used it at Uni for Law. I just used Word to type in size 5 font case names in a one word memory jogger for the case. So I would put a 'key' on each pen so I knew which pen had what cases on. When I did a question on invitation to treat I would look at the pen and the hint would be "Fisher v Bell (Knife window)".

>>28428782
Yep, identical to the ones I used. Here, I made a quick example (Do it neater than this, I didn't measure it out properly or tape it down, also don't make the gap as big as I did)
>>
>>28428839
Maybe I'm on a different board to you but pretty much everything on AQA follows straight from the formula book with maybe a couple of extra lines of working at most
>>
>>28428894
>generally a normie, not chad but not too autistic either

>end up fucking up when examiners starts eyeing me up
>spill all of my spaghetti and reveal the notes on my pen
>disqualified from all of my exams
>life ruined forever, destined to live with parents and survive off bennies
>transform into /r9k/ beta
This is a trap. Don't cheat.
>>
>>28428919
Yeah, AQA are pretty generous for formulas. We get the compound angle formulas, so you can easily derive the double angles from that. And then just substitute sin^2 + cos^2 = 1 or whatever to get the other formulas you usually use.

Any thing else I should remember? I also do FP2 and FP3 but that's a whole different story.

Probably will kill myself I don't get into university. Need ABB for Manchester and BBC for Liverpool, and they're both with reduced offers. I can't waste that opportunity.
>>
>>28428981
how could this even happen? if they do call you out on it somehow you just take the paper away and there's nothing they can do just because they saw you looking at your pen weird.
>>
>>28429040
There's always clearence
>>
>>28429040

How?
>>
>>28429045
They would probably confiscate your pen and examine it if they notice something suspicious. Especially if you're have several and you've been cycling through them.

A kid got caught doing this during GCSE (he got Us for all his exams for History I think) and he ended up dropping out before Sixth Form. No idea what happened to him.
>>
>>28429040
Also if you are a grade or 2 below your firm offer there's a high chance they'll still take you. So if you get BBB it's not the end of the world Manchester could still accept you.

Good luck senpai. Just remember we're all fucked with you.

To be honest, I think it's unfair as although I fulfill those criteria, I don't think I am at a significant disadvantage compared to my peers. But you know, universities and their diversity and outreach quotas. I was given the opportunity and by all means took it even if I don't agree with it.
>>
>>28428981
>>28429100
No idea how you'd ever get caught. It's not like you need to hold the pen in a strange position to read what's on it. You can basically just write and glance at it. Rotating the rubber grip is piss easy, people play with their pens when they think. I just twisted in between my hands while pretending to reread my current answer.

Also you don't mix up the pens. 1 pen per question you need to do. You just swap the pens when needed. Just keep the other two in your pocket or sleeve or just on the desk. The people who watch exams aren't the Gestapo.

My brother went to university. So did all of my cousins. And for some reason, they always assumed I was the smart one and everyone has big expectations of me (they're all about five to ten years older than me). My parents don't know I'm struggling as badly I am and I currently have no other backup option. It just seems like the next logical step in my life and if I don't achieve it, I could just always go for an apprenticeship or something but the idea that I fucked up getting into university would always torture me.
>>
>>28429271
You just need to remember that it only looks obvious to you because you know you're cheating. You know that there is paper under the grip so you're far more aware of it. They won't be thinking "I'll just go pick up that guys pens and check to see if he's removed part of the grip to hide a hints sheet under it".
They will only lock onto you if you act like a spaz and hold the pen like a book and twist it around, clearly looking for something.

They have 30-100 other students to watch, they aren't looking out for an obscure detail like that.
