K-On is hardly a pure moe though. It has a heavy moe foundation, but it is overshadowed by other dynamics, such as the band's dynamics and their music. It has melodramatic elements which give the series a gravity and depth not associated with pure slice of life moe.
Azumanga is probably the crown jewel of moe for me until YRYR.
The thing is, YRYR is much more sexually charged than other moe, The yuri in the title clearly refers to yuri as a lesbian concept, and in this way is a thematic development of the genre. It is therefore perhaps also not "pure' moe in the traditional sense as defined by Azumanga. I'm not saying that's bad, it's probably even better as a synthesis, but the perceived sexual innocence and almost total lack of explicit sexuality of the girls in Azumanga is for me a defining principle of traditional moe (in the entertainment sense; I cannot give a Freudian or Lacanian critique of YRYR or Azumanga, even though I would like to do so.)
In terms of pure moe value, it is close: YRYR certain had a slew of very sugary moments, but nothing in my memory has ever gotten closer to giving me full-on diabetes than Chiyo in the penguin suit.
Perhaps the sexuality of YRYR somehow mitigates the moe value in a subconscious way.
