Are you sure that internet addiction is the cause of our problems? I think most of us got rejected in life and an addiction is just a way to cope with that. It would probably be beneficial to stop, but it's the only thing getting me through the day at the moment.

I tried making it seem unpreachy, but with this kind of shit you gotta realize for yourself. No amount of advice, motivational speeches or posts, success stories, etc. will do any good, if the person doesn't do their part.

Here's the deal. Nofap mostly and used to stem from people wanting to fap less to clear up time but more important make their orgasms better and cum more as time went on. It's now evolved into some holier than thou "fix yourself and fix your sexual addiction" thing when it doesn't do shit except make you more sexually frustrated and horny until you finally crack and fap and end up feeling like shit because you couldn't do it, even though in the end every guy has to have release at some point.

It actually stems from two things, boredom and messed up chemicals in the brain.

Boredom is solved by exercising, it gives you something to do rather than the recurring habit and releases serotonin, it also helps with number two.

Fixing your fucked up wiring. Diet and exercise will help with your energy levels and also your emotions in general. Even something as simple as cutting down on alcohol and cutting down fizzy drinks in general. Just go for water.

Being overwhelmed is normal or to be expected, there's literally shittons of stuff to do at every moment. Start somewhere, the first step is always going to be the first step, you'll organize your next actions as time passes, but not doing anything isn't going to help.

By 'do their part' I meant that you have to do something if you want something to happen, making a conscious effort. Life is shitty, nothing good is free, easy, cheap, etc. You have to work to be happy.

'just be yourself' is horrible advice, I don't see how it's advice at all. Most people don't know who they are because they're affiliated with other, friends, family, community, tied down basically; thus losing their identity and just regurgitating the opinions, dreams and desires of other or just the mainstream. 'live a meaningful life'- Everybody has a different definition of 'meaningful' if at all. Life is inherently meaningless, you yourself give it meaning.

I don't know your current situation, but consider this- it's never late to start, you should feel shame for not starting at this very moment, rather than feeling shame for not having started already, i.e. the past, i.e. shit that's passed, irrelevant, can't be changed, etc.

From a person who has type 1 diabetes, also the nofap guy with the rambly posts, I'd like to recommend to you the ketogenic diet. There are books about it, check out those by Volek for lots of references if you have access to papers or have a rudimentary knowledge of medicine. Shittons of info online, but suffice it so say it works, keeps you at stable low weight, keeps you satiated, isn't very restrictive.
Sleep pattern is more tricky. I take 1-2 g caffeine in powdered form every day, and this for about 2 years already. I got to bed around 2-4am and sleep anywhere from 4-8h. Going to bed tired definitely helps and exercise also definitely helps.
If you've got the cash, there are these activity trackers or even a phone app, which wakes you up in the last phase of sleep. There's evidence showing that if you wake up in of the deeper phases, your brain is still 'asleep' and it makes you feel groggy and takes you more time in the morning to get shit done.
