These are all from a while ago, too. I haven't had time for any photography in any of the new areas. Some day, though...
these images are getting too big. Maybe 5k screens was overkill...

Like this...Non-Unoriginal Comment edition
Tinja is a young Finnish woman living 180 miles from the nearest town. In 2008, after 6 years in southern Finland studying biology, she decided to leave the city and go back to the wilderness to raise sled dogs.
Remnants of the buildings of that time are being swallowed up by the green...
>>28394161
It's -35F on this day of January, nothing unusual for Tinja who grew up In the arctic weather. Like every morning, she goes around the cages of her husky farm to clean up and feed her 85 dogs. Today, the sun is coming back attar 40 days of polar night. Fortunately during that period, the frequent northern lights and the full moon brightly reflect on the snow covered landscapes of northern Finland. For 2 years now she has been sharing her daily life with Alex, a former professional skier who now works as a race musher.
>>28394179
A group of tourists has just left and the farm slowly goes back to the calm and quiet pace Tinja likes so much. Several times throughout the day, the dogs howl all together as a social behaviour, just like a wolfpack. Some of the dogs actually are wolf dogs, meaning one of their parents or grandparents was a wolf. These ones need more attention than the others as they can easily become wild again.
>le tokyo, japan
What's to admire about a place that's basically one big cancerous advert? Fucking light polution everywhere, and all in the name of advertising materialistic shit. No wonder most of them look depressed.
>>28394102
no problemo, anon. I'm pretty new to this, is there an easy way to reduce the res of an image without opening gimp or photoshop? Even in jpg form, most of these are pushing just over 2 megs
>>28394194
Tinja's husky farm is off the grid: she cooks and heats with a wood stove, lights her home with candles and has to break the ice of the river every morning to get her water with a bucket. Inside her house is also a sauna where not only does she wash herself, but also does the dishes and her laundry.
Few go to these places, and I appreciate that fact.

>>28394213
Despite the many emails she receives each week, she's not looking for commercial profit: "I like being on my own with my dogs and horses. I think being alone Is the most peaceful way of life there is. All this has come out of my love of animals, I didn't set up a dogsledding business for commercial reasons, It's about my own love of nature and living out here in the wild."
>>28393427
What kind of camera would you need for photos like this?
Also it's edited, right?
>>28394231
Deeply in love with nature and animals, she finds her inspiration in the arctic wilderness: "I don't want material things. Nature provides all I need."
I know it's barely 10pm here, but I have just finished my first day alone in Tokyo. It is just as comfy as it looks.

there threads remind me of my only dream: to live in a setting as close to blade runner as possible, in a tiny shitty apartment, and never be bothered by anybody ever again. just dissapear.
i think the comfiness comes from blending in and being invisible. the neon signs, overpopulation, smoke, rain, crowds, poverty and darkness all serve to make it so that each person is basically invisible. the theme of cyberpunk is often humans becoming irrelevant, reduced to machines, ignored by the megacorps.. but degeneracy and technology have spread to the point where mindless escape and hedonism are no longer frowned upon, because there is no "society" left. no responsibility. so you plug into the cyber-space and fade away

This pic reminds me of my lucid dreams. I feel like I'm the guy next to the store front, the only one who is visible. everyone else is blacked out, just a dream charaacter. The only things with detail are the things nearby that capture my attention, and my brain renders them complete. The rest of the scene fades away with my lack of attention, becoming dark and formless, The crowds morph and blend as details disappear. This scene so accurately depicts dream cognition and visuals, its frightening.
