Elliot was such a strange guy. I can't imagine being angry at other people for rejecting me. I don't think I've been unfairly rejected before and its almost always been my fault for being such a irredeemable loser. But what's strange to me is how Elliot blames other people. I just don't know where he gets the conviction to believe that he's right. I suppose it's a completely detached perspective. Obviously its quite nice to think one superior -- its an image of yourself that you would have to cultivate internally over a long period since its (imo, quite unnatural.)
But such a self-image would be a very fragile one since it wouldn't stand up to any amount of scrutiny. I genuinely don't think he realized what a loser he was because he was so isolated from other people that his world view was never challenged. That's what happens to people like us. If we start to walk our own paths psychologically, and maybe try out a less traditional belief system -- over a long enough period it can actually erode into psychosis. For example, maybe you try embrace Buddhist ideals and give up some of your stuff. If you had any friends they might prevent you from taking this too far so you do always have that rational, third-party to guide you (if you can call it that.) But someone like Elliot only had himself and his parents couldn't understand it either.
So I guess over a long period Elliot built it world-view where he was some kingly, superior being, and now that it was being challenged -- he didn't recognize it as such. A normal person would feel depression or w/e, but he just felt insulted. A unique mix of insecurity, psychosis, and butthurt. Tbh
Why idolize him?
