What is your IQ /r9k/?
http://test.mensa.no/
>>
I'd probably fail. My memory is shit and I don't remember basic names and dates to important events or basic math formulas. Terms for various things in the english language are completely lost in my brain too. Like I couldn't tell you what a verb was.
>>
It's 90.

Ten years ago, I thought IQ was bullshit.

Seven years ago, I thought online tests were bad.

Five years ago, I took what probably was every normed (?), non-power online test.

Three years ago, I took a professional test and scored 129.

Two years ago, I became bored of realizing the factors that caused such an inflation from my true score.

One year ago, I became bored of explaining to people that existence of such inflation in no way implies that IQ tests are flawed.
>>

sorry to break the news but anyone who posts on 4chan... especially r9k, will have an IQ below 100. no other way around it. all the normies have normal iqs and they navigate life just fine. but you fags can't even make it out of the house let alone brag about having a high IQ.

Improve what? Visual pattern rec.? You can trivially improve it, but I literally have trouble imagining a practical appliation of that outside IQ tests.

Improve IQ? That's impossible because it's a fucking property of your brain. I don't remember the exact correlates -- I believe something about myelin, also something about speed or amount of electricity disappearing? It's been some years that I read that. Either way, it's hereditary.

>Wouldn't visual pattern recognition tie into observation skills in general?

Jesus. What do you mean, 'tie in'? Sure it is in some relationship. But it's obviously not as valid as IQ.

>Are there no studies or academic papers that show that IQ can be improved even marginally with effort?

I don't think you understand how it works.

'Improvability' of things is inversely proportional to those things' generality. You 'can' improve a minor correlate of IQ, such as, oh, I don't know, knowledge of trees' names or understanding of the idea of a number system, a lot. Your general linguistic or mathematical competence -- less so. General intelligence -- not at all.

>You can train for an IQ test like any other test.

Of course, and it never fails to bitterly crack me up how people somehow think this is a meaningful criticism. Reminds me of the Rosenhan experiment. 'I cheated a test/a diagnostical criterion that everyone else understands and agrees must be taken naively, this means it's flawed!'

>Was tested for 140 when I was 14
>>
>>28378771
The IQ test is still flawed for that "naively" portion. It's not universal. People from less developed countries score considerably worse even if you can tell they're about the same intelligence. It's just that even in Western society, we're taught since childhood on the art of taking tests, of being timed on them, of multiple choice strategies and so on. If you've been farming your whole life, even if you're really smart you'll probably do bad on the test.

What's limited is your ability to apprehend that trying to flatly affect other people's subjective perceptions, 'lol no what IQ correlates with is not ACTUALLY important/VERY important', is one of the most impotent ways to push your anti-IQ agenda. Sorry. Try better next time.

If you want to do what 99.999% of people are doing, you can just redefine intelligence as that which is environmentally changeable and sleep well at night.

If you want to be in the .001% of people who define intelligence via the nature of its correlates, as that which captures the widest range of intellectual, adaptive, problem-solving ability, you end up with with g, and that happens to be innate.

kek, you really told me there. I'm not trying to push an "anti IQ agenda" or anything. I merely posted my personal experience. I have a high IQ but the job I do requires an IQ of like 90. Of course having a higher IQ is an advantage, but obivously you need more than that to come far in life. do you think bill gates and other rich people have an IQ number correlating to the amount of money they are making? Do you think some nigger who's doing rap music has an IQ of liek 140? Obviously they don't need a high IQ for what they are doing.

Pulling yourself together and actually working hard as in studying to get qualifications requires way more than IQ. sure, having a higher IQ allows you to understand things better but what's the use of that if you're not even attempting to make use of it in the first place? that's exactly what I did and why I am where I am now in life. i never fucking bothered.

>>28378889

>I merely posted my personal experience.

Nice acknowledgement of anecdotal evidence.

>Of course having a higher IQ is an advantage

Backpedalling concessions.

>you need more than that to come far in life
>what's the use of that if you're not even attempting to make use of it in the first place

Tautological 'IQ is meaningless in itself' arbitrary correlate separation.

>do you think bill gates and other rich people have an IQ number correlating to the amount of money they are making?

Misunderstanding the term 'correlation', misusing it as 'significant correlation', not realizing the latter's subjectivity.

>Obviously they don't need a high IQ for what they are doing.

Ignorance of IQ/quality of life relationship, possible happiness-as-self-reported fallacy.

>working hard
>i never fucking bothered.

Empathetic tautological free will redefinition of capacity so to comfort and forcefully minimize the sense of importance of causal/predictive IQ relationships.

>I've never fucking said that IQ tests are flawed.

Failing to realize I talked about objectivization of the subjective, which 'what really matters is...' is just like 'it's not really valid'.

'A word or phrase used in a non-literal sense for rhetorical or vivid effect.'

Literal sense: 'I (really) think you should kill yourself.'

Emphatic sense: 'I (so to stress my anger at you say that I) think you should kill yourself.'

There is a difference.

QED.

Just play a lot of puzzle type games, I figure thats probably why I can do pretty well on these

>tfw never like to talk about iq with people because dumbasses dont realize that it doesnt have to do with being smart, it just has to do with being able to recognize patterns and solve puzzles quickly but everytime people see a high iq they associate it with someone they heard of who is smart and happens to have a high iq (ie Einstein or some other well known smart guy) even though there is no correlation. Not talking to you about this by the way, just mentioning because I saw a lot of this in this thread

Also, while I wouldnt recommend, it I feel like I also got a high iq from learning to adapt in high level classes without doing work, so I guess you could subject yourself to something like that if you really wanted to for some reason

Just how can one assume the politically acceptable causal direction and dismiss the other like that is beyond me.

Got one done by a psychologist once and got a similar result.

My results would be higher but I got pretty fucking bad anxiety and it bites me in the ass.

>oh, a test? nice
>storm through the first 2 thirds of the test
>oh shit, 10 min passed already
>this things grade based on much times passes
>every second I was lowers my grade
>oh fuck oh fuck
>it's probably option a but c seems nice too
>this would make sense if... score lowering, fuck fuck fuck, what was I saying?
>oh shit, what I thought was the solution to this question makes no sense, I don't understand it, if I think about it I'll lose points but if I guess and get it wrong I'll do so too
>I want to pee
>my legs won't stop shaking
>fucking shit, god damn it
>I'm tense and laughing nerv-fuck, I should be thinking about the test
>oh god what am I doing it

If I wasn't such a fucking mess with this kind of things I could probably boost my score by some points.

I remember doing an entrance test to some kind of private middle school and scoring 2.8 out of 10. They let me in anyway saying I'd have to take personal classes but dropped that after I'd ace all the tests earlier than anyone once I got my nerves under control.

>tfw if anything your barely above average IQ only helps to make your overthinking and anxiety even worse

t-t-thanks.

Why doesn't that apply to the entire sentence in the latter example? Please just stop
>>
>>28379887
>IQ only helps to make your overthinking and anxiety even worse

Cowards. Cowards who for mere egoistic fear of taking responsibility for their ability, and the responsibility to explain validity and heridity of IQ to its detractors, indirectly sacrifice countless people to countless kinds of suffering through contributing to popular ignorance of eugenic measures, which remain unimplemented.

If only there were a way you realized this. But there isn't, the chain of misconceptions and defences is too long.

I can't pay attention when doing this test 2bh, when I get to 50% I just get too bored and randomly click through, got 117 with clicking almost half.

I have noticed that use of this phrase is proportional to nonsensicality of the argument preceding it.

Do you have anything besides your shitpost to suggest a correlation of 0 between intelligence and being smart? I would be shocked if there are an equal amount of smart guys with IQ 2SD above the mean as smart guys who score 2SD below the mean.

Law Ba in a Euro country

I can't do it with all classes obviously but my exams start in 3 weeks so next week I'll open my books (hopefully) and start learning stuff. Never bothered to attend classes either. I'll probably pass 4/5 courses.

The 3 am to 10 am is something I did for "Philosophy and Philosophy of the Law" last semester. I passed. It was kinda funny.

>do you think bill gates and other rich people have an IQ number correlating to the amount of money they are making?
Anon but that's a nonsensical question.

Do you think the winratio of a boxer is directly correlated with his punch strength? Like a guy with a winratio of 16/8 w/l has a punch that is only half the strength of a boxer with a winratio of 16/4?

The higher you get in any ranking, the more will even the smallest of difference matter. Similarly, the better you are at something, the harder it gets to better yourself. The less body fat % you have, the harder it is to drop weight. The more muscle mass you have relative to the rest of your body, the harder it is to add more of it. The better your time is at racing, the harder will it be to improve on it. Et fucking cetera.

Take gaming, a complete novice in a game can better his score from his very first attempt easily on the second try, as he now has no unexpected things happen. The third time will be even faster, because now he's pretty familiar with the game and the mechanics are sticking. But will he be able to beat the score of his 50th time on his 51st attempt? By that time he'll be going through the game like a professional doing a speedrun. Every single action and level in that game will have already been played through at the fastest and most efficient way. The mechanics are flawless. So the smallest mistake will cost him his chance of bettering his time.

You can go from 500 elo to 900 elo in chess by simply playing 40 games. To go from 900 to 1300 will take hundreds. To go from 1700 to 2100, however, will take a lifetime of playing and studying the game with it consuming the largest part of your everyday life.

No, the end result is not proportional to the determining attributes of the participants. The higher you get to the top, the more will every smallest difference matter.

Bill Gates doesn't have to have a million times higher IQ for him to be worth that much more than you.

F is the answer. The pattern is vertical - the first horizontal line does a 180, and is "subtracted" with the second horizontal line in order to give the third line.

What a waste.
