Well I should add to the story that I hadn't cut my hair for 8 months and was wearing that thing in public all the time because I couldn't go to the hairdresser because I have social anxiety and am afraid anyone I knew will see me. So my mother, who knows this, doesn't tell me about a hat that's bound to bring me a lot of unwanted attention. And it did. I caught a lot of people giving me weird looks and I had no idea why. She had previously told me it looked fine in the way that doesn't compliment it but is meant to give me confidence in that particular choice of apparel.
