I listen to pic related. I have most of the episodes on my ipod. Very comfy even though I hardly understand any of it. Trading is so fucking confusing to me. It all just feel like random betting to me. Ive never done it before either but would like to.
>>
>>28367300

It's random betting with new companies, penny stcoks, etc, but not blue chip stocks
>>
>>28367393

Tim Sykes would say otherwise on penny stocks since he specializes in shorting bad companies.

Also go into more detail on blue chip stock trends. What makes that one sector different from the rest like commodities or currency?
>>
What's your method?
>>

Buy them when they have bad days, automate when to sell..

Like when Under Armour went down after Jordan Speughth lost the Masters, it went down like 12% or so. Bought & I'm up 8k, will sell after GSW wins the finals
>>
>>28367591

what do you mean by automate? Do you use algorithms ?
>>
>>28367623
You're making it more confusing than it needs to be.
Automate to sell at a certain price
>>
>>28367665

So you just buy/sell based on news surrounding it it appears? Like solely on current events? Do you look at charts and find patterns?
>>
>>28367698
Well obviously, if a bad quarterly earnings comes out, you ain't buying that stock

>>
>>28367750

What about shorting if you know its going to be bad? Or is it too much of a risk for your liking?
>>
>>28367788

I try to play it safe, I may play around with a grand or two but I'd rather deal with just blue chips.

>>28367777

You put all your money in one stock?
>>
>>28367866
yeah I have very little money so I was doing that. I was doing pretty good before that disaster. I was up like 40% in one month.

Right now I have $GIG at 2.30

What medium do you go through to buy/sell stocks? Do you use some sort of website, do it yourself and pay commissions.

Alternatively do you just go through a broker?
>>
>>28367934
Man, even then put it in more than one stock.
>>
>>28367963
I now use Robinhood. It's commission free
>>
>>28366877

What are you holding right now?
>>
>>28367994

Yeah but is there a monthly subscription to trade through it? I don't know what Robbinhood is. Is it something you use all on your own or does a broker still execute the trades through it?
>>
>>28367994
>Robinhood
Not him, but how is robinhood for trading?

I was considering getting a scottrade account, but would robinhood offer any benefits over that (other than no buy/sell fee)?
>>
>>28368029
not him but you can't short or trade options on robinhood. It's also notorious for crashing occasionally
>>
>>28366877
Being a day trader was always the one job that I actually wanted to try. Probably due to coming of age during the dot-com boom. So then I read a bunch about investing and everything says if you try it, there's a 95%+ chance that you make your broker rich and yourself poor.

So my money sits there in some boring dividend funds, occasionally coughing up a small chunk of cash.

Been wanting to get into the forex for a while, since that's where the real big money is. Any tips for starting out/learning/ what to use for buying and selling? Will be getting a 25k inheritance in a few years so if I start learning now, I can hopefully make something out of it then

A while ago I read an article about the price of bitcoin being undervalued:

https://needham.bluematrix.com/sellside/EmailDocViewer?encrypt=ede6a3f2-880d-457f-862a-47d0cb55fb4a&mime=pdf&co=needham&[email protected]&source=mail

At the time it was roughly $419 and I had to choose between buying a new macbook pro or buying a few bitcoins. I decided that I didn't know enough about stocks to take a risk based off of one article and bought the macbook. Now bitcoins are up like 30 dollars. I'm fucking furious at myself, I shoulda put all my savings into bitcoins.

How are you doing on them?

Not really into trading but I bought something called Cinnober last week prior to news of a new order, made 4% so far, easy come easy go I guess tho.

I do compsci and my buddy does finance and we're gonna write an app to help with trading as a bit of fun/experience
I know there is obviously a fuck load of enterprise software for trading
So we are more thinking of logging some metrics that the average joe could find helpful.

Have any ideas of shit that would be cool to have at hand?
>>
>>28366877

What do you think about trading forums? I stay the fuck away from them, seems like so many trying to use them to spread bs for their own gain.
