I've actually found myself subject to the same impulse as the OP from time to time. I look at myself in the mirror and feel nothing but disgust, and I find myself struggling with the desire to mar it in some way.
It isn't about solving anything, of course. Rather, it is a very basic and primitive desire for retribution. If someone hurts you, you want to hurt him back. An eye for an eye, and all of that. Every woman who looks at you does so with disgust, and that thing peering back from the mirror is to blame. You want to strike back, you want to inflict the same pain you've received. Lex talionis and so forth. There is something essentially human about this.
The problem being, of course, is that you can curse Mother Nature, but you can't strike her. You can't cut her or hurt her. You certainly can't kill her. A simple human being can't hope to injure a goddess. So I refrain from scarring my face to spite her, because that would do no good.
Why bother to scar myself in an attempt to offend Nature? That someone like me continues to draw breath is offense enough.

Because being disgusting is a bad thing obviously you dumb fuck. That's like saying "if you're going to be in pain, why not be in the most pain possible?". The more disgusting you are the worse people will treat you, generally. Maybe there will be a couple people who can deal with your looks and be nice to you out of pity, but it's a lot easier to make friends and have a good life if you look more normal.
