Alway get the IV
Fuck getting them pulled while awake
It's a nightmare
>>
>>28353090
Getting them out isn't bad, but the pain that follows is. You can barely feel them pulling them out. I even had one crack and break during the extraction. The numbing needle thing hurt more. I had to go most of the first day without painkillers, which was a nightmare. I couldn't drive because the gas or whatever had me all fucked up and my mom refused to get the painkillers because she was lazy and being gay.

im going for it in like a week

how do i get the most painkillers out of the deal? they said they "prescribe vicodin or hydrocodone" im going to try to hold off and deal with it as long as possible, then get high sf for a couple days
>>
>>28353090
My experience was horrific. The actual operation isn't so bad, but you do feel the fuckers being yanked out, even if there's no pain accompanying it because of the anesthesia. It's a weird feeling. It's when I got home that it really started to suck ass. Couldn't eat anything that wasn't liquid for about three days. They did give my a bunch of hydros though, those were fun.
>>
Dont let them take your wisdom.

Or atleast wait untill.you r in a lot of pain. Dont give in their making money scheming
>>
It didn't hurt at all during or after procedure, just get high af off painkillers for the first few days and chew on the other side of your mouth for like a week tops

Wisdom teeth are a meme. I'm 28,haven't seen a dentist since I was 16.

How are wisdom teeth a meme?

This.
My mother still has them and no complaints at all.

Why you'd fucking cut in your body for no reason at all is beyond me.

>Go in for surgery at specified time, hours before actual surgery to get all signed in
>Wait another four hours on top of the original estimated wait time
>Finally go into surgery
>They throw a gas mask onto me and tell me to count
>Everything is black
>I remember is waking up and feeling like I was on that amusement park ride, the gravitron
>An invisible force is weighting my body to this table
>Start forcing myself to sit up repeatedly, dental surgeon and nurses keep shoving me back down into the chair
>Start repeatedly saying "my mouth hurts.. my mouth hurts... my mouth hurts....." (it was just a very sore feeling like I'd been punched in the jaw)
>Corners of my mouth sting because they had it clamped so wide during surgery I guess
>They say "yes, we know.. we know.. uh huh, yep" completely unamused, not that I was trying to be amusing
>Notice the nurse is covered in blood, assume it's normal
>They leave the room momentarily and I pass out again
>Wake up and the nurse is speaking to my Mom and sister, explaining how to properly care for me and which medicines to use
>Sit up in the chair & start openly doing the hand talking motion, rolling my eyes, loudly sighing in an exasperated fashion, I'm extremely annoyed with this bitch nurse for no reason and want to go home now
>They finally take me out into the waiting area and insist on getting me a wheelchair to be wheeled to the car with, start getting upset
>"It will only be a moment.."
>"THAT'S WHAT YOU SAID EARLIER BEFORE THE SURGERY AND LOOK WHERAUHRA EWE ARE NOW" sounding the least sober I ever have
>Dental office was in a mall-type situation, sister is wheeling me through the mall, people are staring at me because I'm dramatically slumped over and the gauze in my mouth is full of blood from yelling earlier
>Notice that people are looking at me, start screaming "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? MOOOOOOOOVE!!!" because they're only slowly walking by
>Repeatedly scream "WHAT IS WRANG WITH U PEEPLE?"
>>

My morher never had her wisdom, some people's never come in. Really hoping my don't, I'm pretty sure i have an addictive personality, so I want to stay away from pain meds.
>>
>>28353090
Just let them put you under. I've had this kind of surgery done on three separate occasions. It's not a big deal, but that really is the best way. You'll be a little disoriented when you wake up though. Make sure there's someone to drive you home.
>>
I just got the nitrous and about seven shots of Novocaine in my mouth. My dentist was pretty damn good tho, I didn't even realize he had pulled any teeth and when I asked, he said they were on the third one. My teeth were, luckily, not coming in at weird angles or impacting my other teeth much. Extraction was pretty easy, eating non-solid food for a little while was kind of a pain and so was cleaning the holes.
>>
>>28353090
The nurse hadn't even counted to 10 before I passed out. The next few days were a blur of painkillers and milkshakes.

Have 4 of mine to come out, mine haven't even came out so they are covered by the gum (all four). Will get them down in the upcoming months by a specialist.

I'll be awake for it, don't need to go under some bullshit IV, a simple needle shot in the mouth or a few to numb it and I'm good.
>>
it's really not bad, i don't know why anyone is scared of the dentist. the only pain you will feel is when they shoot your gums up with novocaine. they stick a needle in your gums and numb everything up. after that you don't feel anything.

you can get knocked out if you want, but it's really not even worth it. if your dentist recommends for you get knocked out, do it, but that's it.

they give you weak pain killers and antibiotics after you're done. just take them and you'll be fine.
>>
I've had four of them pulled out when I was a kid all they did was gas me
Fuck that shit it still hurt and they didn't even let me keep my teeth that's what pissed me off the most
>>
If they're coming out straight and they're not pushing on the neighboring morals WAIT UNTIL THEY HAVE FULLY COME OUT, even if you feel some swelling / inflammation for a while (like biting on your own gums, happened when my lower wisdom teeth were coming out, i'm completely fine now). It's normal. Don't get jewed by dentists unless it's really necessary (i.e the whole swelling / inflammation thing has been going on for more than 6 months, or if the pain is unbearable)

If they're pushing on the morals, I'm afraid you'll have to get them removed. Not only do they cause a shitload of pain but they also fuck up the rest of their teeth by compression.
>>
Mine are coming in fine, you must've just had either (a) shitty soft diet your whole life and poor oral posture, or (b) shit genetics
>>
>>28353357
You don't need to do this to prove you're tough. I certainly don't think nervous OP should go that route. It's OK if they're just taking one or two teeth that are screwed up, but when they go digging out your wisdom teeth, really rearranging things like that, IV drip is probably a better option for most people.
>>
>>28353317

People say shit like they exist or something. Why don't I had them then.
>>
Had em pulled i think 1 or 2 years ago in February. I got drugged with novocaine so I couldn't feel any pain. They pulled them while I was awake, but it was alright. The following month sucked dicks though. The taste of blood was in my mouth for a while.
>>
if your tooth is slanted and recessed like that you have to have surgery to get them out anyway so stop bitching.

It was taken out of my mouth while I was under. Woke up drowsy and could barely walk. When I got home it was bleeding uncontrollably. None of it hurt at all. They still gave me painkillers anyways. I was sanctioned to get high for a whole week for free on hydrocodone.
>>
>>28353565
probably why you have a weak jaw desu shit genetics
wisdom teeth can really enhance your jaw if they come in properly, and people who get them removed experience shrinkage of the jaw
>>
>>28353090
Just had 4 wisdom teeth extracted yesterday. I was under general anesthesia for the operation, I basically fell asleep and woke up and it was over. Yesterday my mouth was numb and it really sucked, swallowing was painful which meant eating was painful, but today the numbness is gone and I already feel better.

I was very groggy yesterday and slept a lot, it was hard to stay awake when I got home. I'm on a soft food diet, with gelatin, yogurt, masked potatoes, soft veggies (chopped up broccoli), pasta, ice cream and such.

I have to take 4 meds, medrol, keflex, percocet, and ibuprofen. I've been rinsing my mouth out a lot and spitting (don't want the drainage or bloody saliva in my mouth) and rising periodically with warm salt water.

I also am using an ice pack on my cheeks to reduce swelling. It's really not bad after the first day OP. You'll be fine. The doctor told me my mouth will be fully healed by 10 days.
>>
>>28353476
They do exist. I'm not sure how you can deny that. Some peoples' wisdom teeth come in fine and don't need them taken out, others have them coming in crooked as shit and have no choice.
>>
>>28353090
Got mine out at 18

>go in to clinic
>sit in office
>go to OR
>get gassed
>wake up a bit later
>feel fine after a week

Just be careful to avoid a dry socket and you'll be fine.

>>28353335
Just ask for high dose ibuprofen, it's all I needed.
>>
Got 2 at a time removed.
They had to Drill through them and then break them into peaces and break them out of my jaw.
But only because they were laying in the wrong direction.
They didn't give me Penicillin and because of that, the wound got infected and they had to cut it open and clean it again.
Couldn't eat for 3-4 days per operation.
But I got it for free and would have had far more problems if I hadn't done it.

You won't feel any sort of pain since you'll be asleep.

Any dentist that doesn't put you under is a masochist. There's no pain after the procedure either, just blood management. God will there be a lot of blood to the point where you think you might be losing too much of it.
>>

Why would I want a weaker jaw?
>>
It wasn't that bad.
It's like... an annoying pain more than anything. It aches but it's not fucking agony or anything.
The drugs are gonna fuck you up. Try not to talk. You're gonna want to talk when you're on them, don't talk man. Especially to people like you're parents and shit. You might start calling people 4chan stuff like nigger faggot.

Have something ready to go when you get home like a good TV show to binge all day, or a video game you can play all day.

Wear a shirt you give 0 fucks about. I drooled all over myself all day and there was blood in the drool so it stained my shirt kinds but I was wearing a garbage one anyway.

I got my molars taken out when I was 7 years old and they didn't put me to sleep because my mom refused to.

The feeling of tugging is barbaric and stressful, but surprisingly I didn't cry or flip a shit. Even at 22 I have a dainty jaw so my wisdom teeth have no sign of coming through. They said they might stay so rooted that they'll never need to be taken out.

My experience was perfectly fine. I got all four taken out at once, and no pain afterward. I didn't even have to use the vicodin much...But I did after I had healed...

It really depends on how old you are. The older you are the worse it will be. I was barely 17 when I got my wisdom teeth taken out.
>>
I didn't want to go under, so I got them pulled on laughing gas + a numbing agent. No problem, there was just a huge amount of pressure but no pain and I was kind of high/drunk-feeling.

Afterwards, I made sure not to use a straw or anything for a few weeks, only ate mushy stuff for a week, and it kind of sucked but didn't hurt too much as I took the pain meds as directed.

Got two pulled and have to go back for the other two. Not worried about it after the first two were fine.
>>
Does fucking everyone get them extracted? Every time the subject comes up, whether on here or in real life, it seems like I'm the only one who still has all of them.

Got all 4 out at once, got told not to smoke, smoked pot, got dry socket in all 4 holes, took lots of hydrocodone and played warcraft 3 frozen throne for 10 hours a day. Dry socket was uncomfortable and smoothie diet somewhat irritating but overall 9/10 would recommend

Took a bunch of sleeping pills an hour before hand, didn't really feel much efffect, then they put the laughing gas on me, when they did this I breathed in extra deeply to try and get as high as possible. I fought the urge to fall asleep during the procedure and succeeded. Imfelt them pulling out the teeth, and to be honest it did hurt, but the gas made it so that I didn't care about the pain . . . it was strange. Then I got prescribed codeine, but switched to weed after a week because the codeine was making me sick.

Use common sense retard. How would your jaw get smaller? Teeth aren't connected to your jaw.
>>
>>28353090
I posted in another similar thread.
Don't be scared.
I had a nasty case of it growing all inside completely horizontally.
They had to literally shatter it to splinters cause it was impossible to pull out with the single incision they usually do.
I was only on topical anesthesia.
You'll be fine. You'll be in a decent amount of pain the first and possibly also second day and you'll be somewhat inconvenienced until the swealing goes away.
You'll be fine.

i have a broken wisdom tooth that an abscess forms in the gums on the outside of the the row of teeth. it's basically a pimple full of pus in my gums that has to be stabbed with a needle every time it swells. the tooth itself has a 1/4th of it missing and a big hole leading down to the root that sometimes food gets stuck in every time i eat and must be brushed until bleeding occurs usually to remove. the tooth is also cracked in half under the gumline and will require an oral surgeon to remove.

Stock up on pain killers if you haven't already the anesthetic wears off after about an hour after you leave the surgery/hospital.

Also it's a long procedure, like 40 mins make sure you have plenty to think about. it's not too bad but the dis solvable stitches taste like ass and your glad to get them out when they come out.
>>
>>28356853

>tfw i ordered them to put me to sleep in the hospital

Already had teeth extracted, psychological pain is almost as bad as physical. I'd rather just go to sleep and wake up, at least then i dont have to think about them tearing my jaw apart.
>>
>>28353090
Had them removed on two occasions. The first time they had fucked up the stitches so I was bleeding all might swallowing lots of blood, swelling was huge as well. New stitch the next day fixed that and healed fine.
Second time went like a charm with much less swelling.
Pain was not bad at all, not eating for give days the first time was worse but not that bad. Probably because of the swallowed blood the first day.
Just keep ibuprofen or something every six hours.

Got all four pulled about a year ago, they put the IV drip in and I was out for the entire duration. Spent the next couple of hours on a cloud until the morphine wore off. Wasn't able to eat any solid food for a few days to a week. Find a nice TV show to watch while you're recovering, I ended up re watching Star Trek TNG. You'll get vicodin or some kind of pain killer, and you'll need them to sleep mainly. It's not a scary or hard procedure, just prepare to be out of it for maybe half a week to a week. Also you'll get some nice holes, just try to keep food out of there because it will feel awful until they close up some.

>He injects more, repeats it because it still doesn't work.
>After this many doses, they start cutting the flesh away.
>Turns out it was inflammed in there and because the skin is slightly acidic then, it breaks down the sedation. They aren't supposed to continue, but they were already drilling so they had to.
>Turns out the teeth have to be broken into 3 seperate parts because of the awkward position, for which they have to drill right next to an important nerve.
>"At worst you'll lose control over your jaw"
>They drill hard enough for the sounds to resonate through my skull
>See the amount of blood being drained and it's nothing short but a bloody mess.
>after about 1 hour of that (felt like 3 hours or more) I'm covered in sweat and my heart needs to recover.
>Get told to keep the cotton wool on the wounds for a couple hours to form a clot.
>Of course, during the night the wound opends again, resulting in the clot to spread through my mouth awkwardly. The next day, it's miraculously dragged back in place. (The body is weird, yo)
>Of course this all hurts, so I'm taking the strongest ibuprofen twice per day. (this is the kind of stuff that wants to murder your stomach, for those who don't know)
>Notice the pain never goes away
>Turns out the inflammation turned into a genuine jawbone inflammation.
>No painkillers help against this
>After 2 weeks it stops... finally

The only time I had worse pain than that was an ear infection. That's the kind of pain that will bring most people to tears.
>>
>>28353090

I had 2 of mine taken out under general anaesthetic becaue I'd never had local before, so rather than risk me being panicky or whatever, they decided just to knock me clean out. One was damaging the tooth in front, and apparently they decided to take out the other on the same side for shits and giggles.

There wasn't much pain afterwards, it was just a kind of ache for me. I didn't get given any fancy painkillers and just used over-the-counter stuff. Obviously it was a tad sore given the nature of the operation, but it wasn't horrendous by any means. I was on ice cream and soup for the next 2 weeks though because it was uncomfortable to chew and I heal slowly, and was eating only on the other side of the mouth for a bit after that. I probably could have gone back onto solid food and eating with all of the mouth sooner than I did, but I didn't want to risk messing it up.

>go to place
>panicking internally
>ice cold stuff sprayed on hand
>hand shakes uncontrollably because of the cold
>iv stuck into it

>it's over, still can't really feel anything

The worst part was changing the gauze constantly really. Ate nothing but ice cream for a few days, took the pills as much as i could until my perscription ran out.
>>
>>28358407
The sedation worked eventually and the surgeon was skilled and relatively quick for such a difficult situation with the teeth (they told me it was difficult), so I have no complaints about the service.

It was just that I was expecting things to go a bit smoother.

Everyone who is saying it hurts is a pussy. I had all of mine removed at once with only local aesthetic and although I was super worried about the pain before hand I quickly learnt that I had been rused. My experience is that I didn't fall for the extraction meme.

http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/skip-that-surgery-most-wisdom-tooth-extractions-unnecessary/

I've had impacted wisdom teeth for nearly 3 decades. My mothers have been impacted for well over half a century.

Literally NOTHING bad happened to either of us.

Yeah there might be some cases where it's "really" necessary but most of the time it isn't.
>>
>>28353090
I don't want to ever go under anaesthetic because I'm worried I'll start talking about cuckoldry and bane and other epic memes.
>>
>>28353285

Yes.

Most peoples' wisdom teeth cause no problems at any point in their lives.

Dentists, like everyone else love to make money. So they give you a lot of bullshit about all kinds of catastrophic things that will probably never happen and use it as an excuse to perform surgery on you that you probably don't need.

I still have my wisdom teeth and nothing happened and I'm soon to be pushing 30.

I've known tons of people in their 50's-80's who never got them taken out and nothing happened to them either.
>>
>>28360596
Mine we're impacted and pushing forward, front teeth overlap each other, was absolutely necessary to take out.

Dentist wanted to have a checkup 6 months later to work on straightening them out but by that time they we're almost back to where they we're.

Pretty cool how teeth work.
>>
>>28360692

>>
>>28360596

Mine were impacting. And they came in so fast that my two front bottom teeth are crowded now even though I had 2 years of braces.
>>
>>28361163

There is little evidence that impacted wisdom teeth cause crowding in the front teeth.

>For quite some time, there has been a popular belief that wisdom teeth push the teeth in front of them as they come into the mouth, causing the front teeth to crowd. Consequently, some general dentists, orthodontists and oral surgeons recommend the extraction of wisdom teeth as a preventative measure to safeguard against the recurrence of crowding after orthodontic treatment.

>There is now a large and well-documented body of research evidence disproving the theory that wisdom teeth exert enough pressure to affect the movement of the front teeth. Current well-validated studies tracking patients for over 25 years have determined that teeth will drift forward throughout life naturally, regardless of whether or not orthodontic treatment has been done or if wisdom teeth are present.

First tooth gave no problem, but with this second one, my gums arent healing as quickly as the first. Its been two weeks since I removed the stitches, and soon will be one month since I extracted that tooth.

Also, I live in an European country and they too tell you to remove them. So maybe its not a scam after all, Social Security systems are too much greedy to promote meme surgeries.

They gave me laughing gas while they put the IV in, the IV put me to sleep. Fairly straightforward.
>>

>he replies, "about 5 more seconds"
>next thing I know I'm in a different room
>the surgery was done and my mouth is full of gauze
>take percocets for the next week or so, eat liquids and soft foods, etc.

The only bad part was the fact that I puked in the car on the way home, but I'm extremely prone to nausea. Also I experienced some pain after I finished the meds, and it didn't fully go away for a couple weeks or so. My timeline might be slightly off though because I had it done about a decade ago.

>>28353090
Skip the antibiotics unless there's a good reason you should take them, like you're immunocomprimized. The adverse effects outweigh the slight risk of an infection.
>>
You should always get full body anesthesia. They'll give you the IV, and you won't remember falling asleep. You'll likely hallucinate during the surgery; you'll feel pressure in your mouth, but experience no pain, and may hear what's going on around you. When it's all done, you get a bottle of heaven.

I got conscious sedation because all 4 of them where fucking my mouth up. The lower ones where close to a nerve that they couldn't touch or you'll look retarded forever or some shit, so I was pretty scared.
Ended up chilling and half-asleep during the procedure, no pain whatsoever and apparently I said some dumb shit while I was high , had some giggles.
A little bit of pain the following days but nothing to worry about if you're not a little bitch.
So yeah, if you get sedated you won't give a fuck while they take them out. If you only get local anesthesia (which means the teeth are relatively easy to extract) you'll also almost certainly experience no pain, but anxiety can be uncomfortable.
If your anxiety is really bad take a couple benzos before going in

I was knocked unconscious and they pulled the teeth straight out, meaning I didn't need stiches. I basically just had a dry, bloody mouth for a few days. Wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be, though.
>>
I got one out last year. Hurt a lot.the dentist left the roots in to allow it to heal over.
>>
I got out mine a week ago, all 4.
Only had local sedation in the mouth. It's not really "painful", but it's fucking excruciating because you still feel your teeth pulling out from your jaw and cracking under the pliers.
The lower were too deep, took 30 minutes for each. The fact that you can't really swallow for more than one hour because they're sucking up the saliva while spraying some product that smells like shit.
For a few hours after you won't feel much but will drool blood as you ot no control of your lips and mouth.
Apply ice AS SOON AS POSSIBLE on your cheeks, I can't possibly stress this enough.

Dentists are pushing that shit to sell operations you probably wont need.
Mine were half out, I had like a few days of pain each year, but it wouldn't have bother me all that much in my life.
Do as you please.

I am scared too anon, very scared. I only need one removed. (See bottom right of xray)
But they said insurance might not pay for the IV sedation, so as it stands the cost will be $750 for one fucking tooth...Not sure if insurance will pay or not so I just ignore it.
It does ache though.
Kill me?

Teeth removal, including wisdom teeth removal makes your jaw bone degrade resulting in a worse jawline, making you uglier.
>>
>tfw hyperdontia
>tfw have to get 7 wisdom teeth removed at once
>>
I had some twilight shit when they pulled mine they did all four at once I woke up during surgery a few times and just felt a strong tugging then back to sleep I think the whole thing took two hours but it felt like a few seconds whatever twilight shit they put me on made me feel content like I've never felt again. The healing process was a nuisance though all four of my gum holes kept opening up for a while and the medication made me nauseous but the actual surgery was pleasant.

My bottom wisdom teeth are coming along well.

However the upper teeth rooted into my sinuses and I WANT THEM OUT NOW.

>take 800 mg ibuprofen every 6 hours
>3 hours later take 1000 mg acetaminophen every 6 hours

Talk to your dentist/oral surgeon about your concerns. You can also go to a clinic for a physical and they will listen to your heart for any abnormalities.
