How much shilling actually occurs on 4chan? It's pretty spooky for me to think about. Who knows how many threads are an advertising/brainwashing attempt.
I presume most threads on /pol/ and /r9k/ are shill threads, probably /b/ as well but I don't go there.
You can tell certain topics come in waves and bombard /pol/ and /r9k/ at the same time.
I can confirm that trap shilling is real as is the homosexual agenda. There is not a ruling body giving directions but people discuss and strategise in semiorganized way.

Think about it. Who has the money to spend paying people to do nothing more useful than spend all day posting comments to online comment sections? There's been some speculation about shilling on /tv/. Back when BvS was announced, most posters could pretty much agree it was going to be crap. Then, when it came out, we suddenly saw an influx of people calling it "kino," many seemingly unironically.
Now, it seems like something similar is happening with the new Ghostbusters. I've seen more than a few posts calling anyone who hates the trailer "racist" or "sexist."
I also have vague memories of a thread involving some anon who claimed he worked for a company that hired randoms to spam forums like 4chan. I remember their being an active-email, too, where people could apply. I can't seem to dig up a screencap, though.
